Sunflower ph1 X254 RYS

  Exige, M140i
Hi all. After a lot of searching I have finally managed to get my hands on a Sunflower Phase 1.

This particular car was not far from me and been owned by members on here at many points during it’s life. I have searched extensively online to try and piece together as much of it’s history as I can.

So far I have established that it has been owned by martysph1, missinglink, Airs172, mcclusky, Faxo and weddy1988.

Both the previous owner and Faxo both did a lot of work to the car, both giving it resprays (the previous owner works in a paint shop and it had a full respray last month). Spec is as follows:

90k
Freshly refurbed OZ’s
New brakes all round
Ph1 bumper and rear lights refitted
Sabelt steering wheel
Recaro Fish Net seats
Front and rear strut braces
Powerflex engine mount
Supersport coilovers - new (will be for sale soon)
Ktec rear carpet
Aerocatches
PMS top mounts
KTEC stealth with decat
98 RON map
Front spacers

The car drives brilliantly. Very direct, strong engine and great gearbox.

As these are getting rare now I plan to keep it and gradually return most of it to standard. The list of jobs currently is:

New alu bonnet with Renault diamond
Refit standard interior… unsure about front seats at the moment - opinions?
Cup shocks and eibach sportlines
New rear tyres
Black side bullets (anyone want silver ones?)
Cup spoiler
Yanoo/PMS shifter
Refit single din stereo
Clear side repeaters
Full detail
(Try to) sort the front bumper which is slightly off on one side

Only one pic for now:

  A special one.
Hi bud.

You can't buy new alloy bonnets or the black 2.0l 16v side badges anymore.

I have a black pair that I removed from my old PH1 as I was lucky enough to buy the only new pair left.

Looks great mate. Sunflower 172's are awesome (as this one is).

Keep this topic regularly updated :)

I'll be looking for both second hand on here mate. I'll put an ad in the wanted section. I'm sure there will be a few other things I need too!

a sunflower is one of a few cars id sell my rb for. lovely car. definitely subscribing to this thread

That looks so smart and such a rare colour, as said above keep this updated
New bonnet will really improve it as you already said but have you got a pic of the seats in the car? Just to be nosey!

This is the only shot of the seats I have on my phone (currently away on holiday) but will update the thread once I'm back with some good shots.

I think the seats look good and match the car but they're a little narrow for me so I'll probably be selling them at some point.

Thought I may as well upload the shots of the car having its respray a few weeks back, as taken by the previous owner who worked in a paint shop so excellent quality finish.

For those who are interested, here are the results from a recent dyno test. Calculated 181/182bhp at the engine.

A few shots from an interior clean this morning. In the middle of putting the double din stereo back to standard - dash off job!

I have also fitted standard black side bullets and clear side repeaters as well as sourcing an aluminium bonnet which will be painted and fitted soon!

2 minutes and a bit of carbon tape made the world of difference to the rough looking rear brace

Today was mostly speant cursing the person who thought it was a good idea to install a double din head unit by HACKING the stereo surround to bits. There was glue, filler and even wood in there!

The whole dash had to come off to remove the existing stereo surround from behind and fit the new one along with the air vents. A long process but well worth it.

I just need to get a standard stereo cage and jobs a good un.

Also, get yourself some.tesco antibacterial wipes. I used these and my fingernails on my ph1 to remove the film on the center console and it came up a treat. Took hours though!

Is that the sticky layer on the stereo surround? I didn't realise that should/would come off!
