Mk1 172?

Mine was well stiff, never got used to it really, noticably stiffer when swapping between vehicles

Thought it was normal? The clutches are really heavy. You just get used to it.

When I drive other cars I feel like i'm stamping the clutch through the car floor as it's so light :S

I've a 172 and have a very stiff clutch too, especially when the car is hot in traffic. It's the only thing I really dislike about the car. Had in about 10 months and still have to concentrate 100% when pulling away. Try a new cable like many suggest.

I'll give the new cable a try and let ya know,
Failing that I'll try and crash change like the
old Foden I used to drive?

Cheers

Not that I can see the car has done 45k and seems well looked after
as I said before it just seems very stiff in its action come back crash boxes
all is forgiven!!

Well I've fitted the new cable what a b*****d to change without a ramp!!
The one thing I did notice was the new cable had three large metal weights
on the gearbox end,and the old had nothing just a plain cable any thoughts?
And before you ask I haven't tried it out yet I need a shower first I'll let you
know soon.

Well all you were right the new cable with the weights on the end
have worked a treat while I still wouldn't say it's a light clutch action,
It's loads better than it was I guess around the same as my tipper now!!

Cheers

I've got my Mk1 Clio RS ('00) for 2 years now. Since the beginning I've got that sticky clutch (at warm engine, especially in hard city traffic), and I hate it.

Whole clutch set changed - remained sticky.
Cable changed - remained sticky.
Cable lubricated with WD40 - remained sticky.

What else on earth could i try???

(plus I got the same sticky accelerator :( )
