Standard cup rear shocks, gas and oil or just oil? (I've searched)

Plenty threads on this but I couldn't find an answer, I've just received a pair of rears off a guy on here but they are either oil only or the gas has escaped both of them.

Damping is smooth and stiff but they do not return to a position the way that aftermarket shocks do, is this right?

I thought they were meant to return to position, if not theyre fooked?

They should if they contain gas, just not sure if standards do or don't :dapprove:

standard ones are fluid, i found out when one decided to leak

When they leak, they're humped.

I get all this, my question is do ye standards ALSO contain gas
