Stall, running rough when idle

  Clio 172 Ph1
Hi,

So I took my car to the garage up the road from me who does a good job on most things. I took my Clio in for a cambelt change and to have the water pump sorted as it has been leaking pretty much the whole time since purchasing the car in January. I have called the garage a number of times but they said since fitting that the engine is still running rough they said that is shakes and sometimes stalls now this is all the info I have at the moment but I am becoming impatient as they have had the car for nearing two weeks they have also called the local Renault dealer for help but they seem unsure what the problem is and seem to be putting off fixing it. They said it could be the air flow sensor thing on the throttle body or the cable itself to the ECU but any advice would help cause I'm tempted to get the car back and attempt fixing it myself

when you say 'still running rough' does that imply it was running badly before the garage did the work?
if so my monies on injector going down, same as other post about a 182 in this forum. diagnosis method detailed in that thread

It did yes not as bad but was running lumpy with the water pump leaking it was thought it could be the belt but I would of thought that they deal with local Renault dealers it would be timed right I could be wrong...so the injectors is this an expensive fix cause I could frankly turn mine into a banger racer cause I have had enough lol

Right the car is back its not stalling, they have replaced the sparks, stopped the water pump leak and by the seems of it the cambelt is in time but the car is shaking when idle and when I start to slow down they wondered if it has been remapped but needs updating any suggestions ?

The idle is a bit rough on Clio 1*2s even if the timing is 100%, and you'll feel a slight wobble occasionally when sitting stationary. When you say 'stopped water pump leak', are you saying that there was still a leak from that area after a new one was fitted?

It's possible that it's been remapped - do you have much documented history with the car?

I'd take it to Cit-Ren (local French car specialist) if you need any large jobs doing in the future - they're good guys!

Well I had it put in cause there was a suspected coolant leak near the water pump they checked and had seen that's where it was coming from and I remember people saying that usually it's best to have the cambelt changed especially as I have no record from anyone of it being done and its at 87K, I don't have much history other then what I found from previous owner on here I just wondered if it could be remapped I'm not a clue lol also noticed since having it back if I turn the wheel full lock the car stalls it does sound rather mental as well ill take a vid later if I get chance ???

Really daft question but goes best to approach them about this the guy isn't at the garage currently as he is on holiday

The weird thing is they took the car to the local Renault dealer to put a diagnostic test on it I'm surprised they didn't hear it when it was there I'm taking it over to them for them to listen to it at lunch

I have the same problem, start the car up and the revs will drop, all lumpy and then will stall. If I rev it before it has the chance too stall it will keep the revs at 900-1000. Although at traffic lights or roundabouts there's a good chance it will stall. Any news with yours?

No other then I am fed up of the stupid thing lol the garage are taking it back Monday and going to attempt to fix it but other then that no news I don't think I can afford to keep spending out on it

Maybe but I m selling it up in January if by pure chance they get it working and getting something Japanese hopefully ... That's if it works otherwise I don't know I might set it on fire
