Hi guys a moment of you time please.

My Speedo seems to be having a strange fault at the moment.

Some times it works some times it doesn't.

Removed the dash and checked the cable was in and it was fine.

Any other ideas as to why it would work some times and not others?

Hey,

Ive got a mk1 with exactly the same problem, it started doing it on longer journeys only initially but now (2 months on) its not working more than it does. I had it into a dealership for something else and asked them to have a look and they said i needed a new speedo drive and quoted around £70 for it as i remember, was gonna book it into a local renault specialist next week to get it sorted but the back box sheared itself off from the rest of the exhaust on the way home from work today so i'd probably better get that done first.

it never rains but it pours.............

This happened once to my old Mk2 Ph1 and it turned out to be a dodgy fuse.

Ive got both as spares, the sensor or the dash panel.

my clio started doing this the week before i traded it in.. i think it was the sensor on the gearbox that was dodgy tbh..

Yea speedo sensor on top the gearbox most proberly.

I had the same problem,look down the back of the engine bay

take the metal case off, pull the connector off, push it back on and give it a wiggle then try it.

also check the earth connection too.
