Roughly the same width & f/r track, in terms of length the Megane is longer... Hmmm

Any thoughts...

My only thoughts are, i'd prefer a meggy. Least it doesn't just look like 'another soft hatch'. It looks aggressive and fresh.

tbh im happy with the megane, especially when you consider the fuel consumption figures are better and its quicker!!!

Its not surprising the Clio 197 is essentially the same width as a Megane. Because that's where it inherited its front subframe and suspension from. That's how they got the width to fit the 6 speed Nissan gearbox in that they couldn't fit in previously. But simply taking the front of a Megane and designing a shorter car to fit it - and it could well be its the same at the back. That solved the gearbox fragility problems and the wheel bearing problems, and spreads developments and production costs over a bigger volume so the 197 isn't as expensive as it otherwise would've been.

Which means if Renault, or Fred, or or anyone else, want to build a Clio turbo it'll be easy.

Yep...I think I'd go for the Megane as well over the new Clio.

dont like the meganes huge booty, that alone would make me not but one. otherwise there nice. i like the front end. i dont like the rear side windows/roofline neither. would def buy the clio over it.

Not that keen on the rear but could live with it...the Megane seems like a lot of car for the money and has easy tuning potential to boot.
