Scorpion RS192 Build Quality?

  Teg
I bought my Clio with a Powerflow oem cat back exhaust fitted... Far from brilliant so it needs replacing!

I can remember seeing a YouTube video with a Clio trophy from evo magazine and that had a RS192 system fitted. Thing that's drawing me to the RS192 is it's subtle noise increase. I don't want anything too loud but I've just read a few old posts on the forum saying the build quality of Scorpion exhausts is pretty poor and there can be alignment issues. Is this still the case or have they sorted that problem? YBracing have them for sale at £400.

Any other alternative to the RS192 with similar noise levels? Don't want anything that drones too much on motorways. What's the KTEC centre line system like?

Can't speak for recent 192's as I bought mine late 2009, but it was a bit of a pain to line up over the years. Had to adjust the rear hangers to get it to sit right, then when they got welded it was done properly so haven't had any issues since.

As for build quality it hasn't been too bad. I put some self made almost solid rear mounts on as the standard ones and replacement ones wore out quite quickly. After a year or so both rear hangers snapped off and it kinked the front box a bit as it was trailing for a short while on the way to getting it welded. Both hangers were welded and have been fine since, as has the front box. I put those problems down to my hangers more than anything else though.

Mines not the RS192 but scorpions other exhaust (one back box). I'm on my 2nd centre section in 2 months. Fitted the new one today actually...customer service is good but it keeps cracking and then blowing. Moving on to miltek now.

I've always been a massive fan of Milltek... With me owning Fords pretty much all my driving life there arguably one of the best systems when it comes to Fiestas and Focus' but what are they like on Clios sound wise? From my experience Millteks build quality is spot on.

Don't really know much about Piper systems as like I say coming from Fords there not really that popular, might have to dig through YouTube and see how they sound?

Ive read quite a bit about poor welds and cracking with the Scorpion and after what's been said above ^ I think even though I like the sound I'm not going to buy one as considering how much they cost I want something which will last.

Personally I would not touch a Scorpian exhaust with a barge pole. Within the Pug circles most of them required welding at some point ; to me that defies the point of a stainless system.

Powerflow are a franchise and as such the quality is a lottery.

Ive had 3 milltek exhausts on my 182's and havent really though about them that much, they make a nice sound, are not too loud and have never had any issues with corrosion or welds or anything like that. A friend has a Yozza on his 182 which is really loud and today we took it off his car to fit to another one. I was astonished at how good the condition of it was after the years it has been on. great manufacturing for sure.

I would always choose a milltek if there was a choice.

My 182 has a Milltek on it, was on there when I bought it. It looks very well made.

Sounds very good too.

I had 2 centre sections crack so they redesigned the part with a flexi joint see the link below.
They do ask that you return your old one though so it can be inconvenient, but it is in the terms and condition of the lifetime warranty.
All the current scorpion 182 exhaust no longer have the old centre section so if you buy new you will get the revised part.
The only other problem with the RS192 is the tailpipes move to the right when its warm but all 182 exhaust do this.

It was why we were always more expensive than most of the other systems out there... they would likely outlast the car, due to the quality of materials that we used.

The only part that we couldn't get the highest quality stainless for, was the flanges - and we tried, but they came in at 25GBP each which was just out of the question.

The scorpion 192 wasn't a bad fit, I've fitted 100's and it was pretty painless laying on the driveway,. The middle sections sags, but that's a renault fault, they should have had 1 or 2 middles hangers.

The rear pipes don't line up 100% straight not matter how much you adjust, the pipe/s should have have had a little more bend, but they fit pretty flush to the bumper nice and square at an equal height so you can't tell.. It's something you'd never notice unless laying under the car..

Build quality seems ok, but I await the cracking exhaust... It's sad that they can't get it right these days, I've never heard or known anyone in the gtt world that had a scorpion exhaust let go, yet all the new age ones are poopy..

If you want a extra hanger for the 494RN scorpion Resonated Centre Silencer Box then they will send you one. If you click the link below then download the PDF Fitting instructions, all the info you need is there.
Scorpion know there is a designs fault with there part, at least they admit it and take the time to come up with a solution to the problem.

First time I have seen this. Does it fit the RS192? My cat sags there which is highly annoying.

I have one of those brackets on my exhaust, still hangs down and I still scrape it on speed bumps! Words cant describe how pissed off I am with my scorpion exhaust. Honestly think id be happier with the standard exhaust right now!

My issue is that the decat to centre section join however hard i try keeps blowing, doing my head in
