Absolutely with you on ED. They serviced my Megane and found them really helpful. Would definitely use them again.

Interesting to hear their opinion of the gates belt. There was a specialist, the name of which eludes me, on Facebook comparing the Renault aux kit and gates kit and they said the gates one had better pulleys than the Renault ones and the belt looked as good as the Renault one. When was it fitted Ronald? At some point Renault will stop supplying the belts and we will have to rely on other ones.
Looking forward to seeing it at csf Ron, little spoiler going on too?

The cam belt is supplied by a company called Hamilton apparently. So hopefully it will still be available for some time.

My service book says it was changed about 3 years ago but it’s just a stamp in a book so no real proof of it being done at all.

It was painful having to shell out that kind of money but it’s done now and I now have peace of mind that it’s not going to snap.

Came back to my car today to find someone has crashed into it. Luckily a note was left and I’ve spoken to the other party and got all their details.

I’m praying it’s not going to be a write off but I fear it’s going to be.

Sorry to see this dude, that's awful!

I certainly know what that feels like...

I'm sure you'll come out on top regardless the outcome! [emoji1303]

Up and about to early this morning as I’ve had to catch a train to work.

Still feeling absolutely gutted. Think it’s more the fact that I’ve put a lot of time and effort into this car not to mention having just spent a load of money getting belts done.

Got a claims management company to speak to later so I’ll update his once they’ve had their assessors look at it.

Really sorry to see this and gutted for you!

Why do things like this always seem to happen to the really nice, well looked after cars?!

Hope it all gets sorted with minimum fuss....

Sorry to see this. Awful when this kind of thing happens, and you always seem to lose out in the end, even if it isn't your fault.

@gally will probably be able to advise but if the insurers look to price up a new quarter panel it could well be writen off.

If that is their conclusion, ask for cash in lieu as I'm sure you could then get it repaired cheaper and avoid the CAT marker.

Oof. That's not an easy sort on the rear quarter mate, quite a crumple - especially being on your fuel cap side.

Any visible damage to your rear axle/drivetrain etc?

Fingers crossed for you Brian - looks like a great car to lose.

  A special one.
It will need the 1/4 cutting off to get to the inner skin/wheel arch.
Has that rear wheel taken a wack?

No damage to the wheel or axel from what I can see.

Can’t complain about the courtesy car I’ve been given. It’s brand new. Only got 100 odd miles on it and it drives nice.
