RichjWilliams - Track Day Trophy #343

  Clio Trophy #343
Well I have been lurking around the forum for a few months now and with the sale of our old track day car we have been keen on getting involved with the clios as they seem the Weapon of choice at most track days.

Chip has been recomending all sorts of different options to us, thus after some serious consideration we went for common cliosport approach and bought one of Sir Daves old cars....

so here it is

We have no good pics of the car so ive robbed yours.... hope thats ok..lol

I must say buying a car of Dave has been the most genuine buying experiance known to man :)

Initial impression of the car was good on the drive home, has a very satisfying 5k kick:thumb:

But it was a little down on power and with a very reputable Renault specialist right round the corner then the day after we collected it, it was delivered to BTM.

Current spec:
Scorpion srn019 exhaust
Ds2500 pads
White line rarb
Camber bolts
Std trophy sach suspension

Bits we have to add to the mix:
AEM gauges
Harnesses
AO48r's
Rain sport 2's

Bits we have purchased over the past two weeks

Side mounts to go with seats have arrived from MWM (thanks mate) to but no pics until painting has happened

Hoping that the car will be back soon and if the legend that is Dewismotorsport is free then can get them in and fitted

The car is currently with btm for an inspection and now:
Air con delete
Cam belt and Aux belt
Geomatary
Unpinned Sachs
Steering arms
list of bits that want sorting

The short term plan - for Coombe
Seats fitted
oil, filter plus other paerts for service
Fix exhaust mounts
Brake flexi's
Brake fluid

Updates soon...

Ha ha, no problem Rich!! Glad you're enjoying the car ... 2nd cheapest roadworthy Trophy around iirc.
Only other one was mine as well, which Kelv now owns. Both being used properly by their new owners :race:

Will keep an eye on the thread!

Get those wheels on! Itching to see what they look like!

we are too, did not get chance to get tyres on this weekend but they will be going straight on for a test look.... With a good clean too lol

we are really pleased with how they have came out, but up close there is still a few blemishes... But they are for the track tyres when all said and done lol... I fancy adding a hint of a bright colour but not sure what lol.

on my previous cars I've done yellow and orange but not sure, only on parts like centre caps, seat mounts and cage...

  Clio Trophy #343
Looking good guys :) see you at combe hopefully then!

One of the things we will be doing on its return will be give it a clean... Prob clay, polish and wax, doubt it will be up to your standard of detailing but hopefully will make it look nice again lol

Cam timing is out and whichever monkey worked on it previously has fucked the inlet cam by hammering the horseshoe in

You can DIY polish the lip. Piece of piss and would make the wheels look even better.

why did you spray the wheels with the valves in?

Only left the valves in due to laziness but they will get changed when we have the tyres done so will lose the paint they have collected :)

Yeah, cant say i was particularly impressed when Rich told me that!! Especially after the huge bill that Feirny paid,

Does explain the paltry 163bhp though i suppose.

Update:

The car has returned from BTM after the following:

Cambelt done
Air con delete
Steering arms changed
Geometry set

Subframe modified as for what ever reason a1.2 subframe was fitted to the car thus one of the engine mounts was not fitted correctly... Whoops

This evenings work includes:

Fitted new braided brake lines

Fitted polybush to dogbone mount

Before
ImageUploadedByTapatalk1366230708.079427.jpg

After
ImageUploadedByTapatalk1366230738.262186.jpg

Brakes have been stripped and cleaned

Rear seats and carpets have been removed

Also made a start on painting the sidemounts

ImageUploadedByTapatalk1366230956.106386.jpg

Then unfortunately we ran out of light, so tomorrow is brake bleed and clean ready for its drive at the weekend :)

I'll be honest Rich, if id known what a POS this car was i would have just broken it!!! Poor old Feirny was driving around for years in a car and it was an utter heap lol. Hopefully all is good with it now though :star: Did Fred tell you the cause of the misfire?

how would you have known? lol dont worry about it, and we still stand by our origional statement around an honest sale, the car drives great so i think it sounds worse than it actually is :) and its sorted now anyways.

The only question is, why was the subframe changed, buts saying that, I would not put it past one of the 'retards' that have worked on this car to have simply picked up any subframe and been confused as to why the mounting point had moved...lol

fred told me that they are exactl the same size and quality with simply a differnce in bolt configeration, fred mended that with a drill :)

Anyways, other than a few minor bits of fettling and having the seats fitted then it will be time for some hot laps at coombe to see what the **** is made off :)

properly looking forward to it

Well this has caused a bit of a stir.. I can't be assed to argue the facts and to be honest, of the owners I know the least about what has/should have been done.

Only things I would like to know now is, is this on a complete second engine and if so what is known about it?

If not then I look forward to updating with the new seats fitting at the weekend :)

Might be worthwhile checking the engine number against the V5? For once, i didnt bother. Maybe i should have lol.

For reference, i knew nothing of the '2nd engine' and by the sounds of it, neither did Feirny. This is despite the specialist that rebuilt the engine saying (before the moderation edits) that 'it was on its 2nd badly fitted engine'. Strange that they didnt see fit to Feirny at the time. FYI there is also no record of the 2nd engine being fitted on the Trophy forum (Feirny and i checked before buying it), that is unless Renault did it at some point - it was serviced by them prior to JARB buying it iirc.

Anyways, Fred now fixed it all, so it'll be running properly :star: Look forwards to seeing the updates when the seats are fitted!!!

Can the moderator who removed all the associated business contact me regarding the deletion of posts in MY build thread on a PUBLIC forum, I have not been notified regarding this.

I find this highly suspicious...
