Rev Counter Dont Work! (16V’er)

My Rev counter hasnt actually worked properly since i bought the car

It just sits there not counting any revs when some times it suddenly wakes up ...... then dies again.

Any one had this prob before.......sounds like its losse on the engine....does any one know where abouts it would be attached?

Cheers

Andy.

although i dont have a valver, my own guess is that u either have a dodgy counter, in which case replace it, but ud have a different milage! OR check all the connections for a dirty/dodgy connection, one connection behind the counter and one in the ignition module.

all i can think of m8

P.S. the tacho is wired to the ignition module, shud have some clips sticking out of it with wires going through them.

take the clocks out of the dash and carefully remove the perspex cover over the needles ( take care as you do not want to split it)

Next make sure that plastic which has the numbers on it is still stuck down, as mine had a small air pocket behind it which somes times made it work then other times it would just sit there....

Glue the plastic cover back on a hey presto hopefully working dials...

If not i think the rev counter connects on top of the coil housing just behind the battery, think it has a pink wire going into it (but only doing from memory)
