Renaultsport No.4 Kieran's Blackgold Project

Mine started whining in neutral, only noticed it with the music off listening to my ktec induction when I first got it, it now whines when going very slow or in high gear at about 30-40, sort of like a whooping gearbox whine.

Its the differential bearings I think, when I first noticed it it wasn't really bad but Its noticeable now, no crunches but it also feel tight to get into some gears.

Im looking for a second hand box first then I want to get it reconditioned at agency transmissions, then I will attempt fitting the new box with a new clutch kit and possibly a new cable.

Ok cheers Euro car parts was around that with discount code but Ill look into the people who supplied yours.

  BlackGold 182
Well the 182 is back on the road, after getting ant (scrooge) to replace my gearbox and clutch, the car feels great to drive again! Ant done a great job and when on arrival was even cleaning the car!

  BlackGold 182
This morning I finally got round to installing the 98ron map with the rs tuner, the idle before was about 700rpm and 800rpm which felt extremely rough, now runs bang on just over 1k. The power feels smoother overall I'm very impressed

Update from a few weeks ago. decided to spray splitter gloss black, looks loads better imo. decided that its gonna be oem+ now, tomorrow will be covering a pillars in alcantara and then eventually the headlining. think im going to spray dash strips iceberg silver cos the black you can see little scratches already.

next week i will be attempting a full detail on it as i find the paintwork shocking tbh

  BG Clio 182 - Recaro
Cars looking fantastic

I should be able to get away with my 15mm spacers i presume as i havent lowered my car?

Wheels look ace, Im tempted to go like a really dark anthracite, close to black but just enough to stick out

Loving the red theme

What colour have you painted your bullets, (thats the look i want, Nearly hid but just a bit lighter)

Cheers pal

  BlackGold 182
I'm losing the red theme shortly, I decided oem+ now. I'm tempted to do the wheels in anthracite and then later on in the year get turinis.

the bullets are bmw sparkling graphite

  BlackGold 182

Knowing you I'm not sure! Lol

I shall be keeping it till July then see what happens work and redundancy wise before I really have to put it up for sale. I don't want to as I still want to do things to it but I will if I have to.

  Crutches ATM :)
Good read this, love the oem+ look. Really like the alcantara pillars, makes a huge difference to the interior. Head lining will be epic, loved mine in my cooper S and really lifts the interior. You not thought of doing the dash strip alcantara?

  BlackGold 182
i done the dash strips and made an alcantara gear gatior when i had my iceberg but think its a little too much, also im currently in the middle of spraying them iceberg silver

  BlackGold 182
something i have been working on this afternoon, crap photos they will be fitted tomorrow. the bit of alcantara in the tray will be glued in after being fitted.

Kieran, did/do you have any rubbing issues with your spacers on both front and rear? Im looking at the same size now as what you've got front and rear but see you added camber on your rear ones. My wheels are et43, not sure what the standard ones are?

  BlackGold 182
Naa no rubbing mark, the offset I'm pretty sure are 37. I think with 25mm spacers at front it will be fine as they're 15s and the rear should also be fine but might have to roll the arches a bit but I'm not certain.

Have you spoken to stu who has the now turbo sunflower? He has 2118s and 25mm spacers at front. Not sure what size on the rear

No i havent mate, but he's got a ph1. Both Sam (Wick) and Piers had/have 25mm on the front of there ph2's and imo its too much. I knew you had 20mm on the front but when i corner hard-ish it rubs so just doing my homework lol

Im thinking of getting either 10mm or 15mm rear hub spacers and 20mm hubcentric front spacers. Not sure wether to get the rear with 1 degree negative camber though. I know the 182's come with 1 degree negative as standard so i dont want to over do it but i also dont want it scrubbing the rear arches.

  BlackGold 182
my rear spacers with camber, its hardly any camber really but its enough to clear the arches. its hardly enough to eat through tyres either

if you get the spacers and find theyre too big, theyre easy enough to sell onwards again mate

Proper update for a change! After getting a nice tip at work I decided to take a chance on some coilovers, they're on race lands but I'm no f1 driver with a baby in the back these days and new they would be more comfy than the current apex.

I decided that I will only use the fronts and keep the rear apex springs as the rear was perfect height. While doing the coilovers I sprayed the arches black and the calipers silver. Anyways here's a few photos..

after that I changed over the manky filter that's been well overdue

lastly I refurbed my 182 wheels, went for rover stone grey with iceberg silver underneath so glitters blue a bit in the sun.

Looks lovely! Reminds me I need to paint my awful looking calipers. On another note, how do you find the Clio with a baby? We are looking at starting a family in the near future and wonder if I could do with getting a 5-door for more space..

  BlackGold 182
Well it's not to bad tbh, when your in a rush and your squeezing through into the back to put car seat in, it does get annoying, I run no parcel shelf so easier to get the buggy in, but were getting used to it now tbh

  BlackGold 182
Cambelt, aux belt and dephaser being done tomorrow at stone automotive, can't wait to get that done as its been worrying me for a while.

Update

This morning i got up early and left at 6.45 for a drive up to luttersworth to collect an exhaust from a member on here, i got a good deal on it due to needing a hanger rewelding back on, so after picking it up on my way home i stopped off to have it welded back on.

DSC_1270_zpsa8f6aa9e.jpg

After that i decided to clean it up and a few bits of sandpaper and autosol its come up a treat compared to before.
