Renault's new fixed price servicing.

Most of "us" already charge around £50 for a set of NGK PFR6E10's fitted mate and Renault are £399 for a timing belt change now. I've always been £380 (£280 for a Cup) so I'm not worried as most enthusiasts wouldn't trust the main dealer anyway.

Its too little too late from them if you ask me and I bet they withdraw it by the end of the year.

Thats a good price Mike for a plug change.

I was quoted £200 from a specialist for a mini service (oil and filter change and general inspection) and spark plug change. I thought it was a little steep at the time.

Just rang Renault Blackburn for 5 year/ 72 mile service although mine has only done 33k miles . The full price they quoted me is £613.00 parts and labour incl VAT . Thats cam and aux belt full kit £399.00 , water pump and coolant £67.00 , spark plugs £49.00 and what they call their interim service which includes oil filter and oil ( me supplying my own , £27 extra them supplying ) and checking over the vehicle , diagnostic and vehicle check etc ...( probably trying to find faults that add a few quid to the bill no doubt which will be swiftly met with a no thanks , fcuk off  ) and free courtesy car . Plus you do get a " Renault " stamp in your book which some people can be a little pedantic about when buying second hand .

I've just called up about a price for an interim service too - £175ish with them providing the oil and changing the plugs too. This also included free courtesy or collection within the local area. Think I'll go for the courtesy car option...

The base prices are cheap but the costs sharp add up...

That's not a bad price

I was considering maybe Birchdown but they're a good 2 hour drive away , Blackburn Renaults about 10 mins . Do i really want to get up at silly o'clock to beat the traffic on the M6 and then back again ? Looks like Blackburn Renault it's gonna be for me then .

What is the dephaser exactly ? Is it a pulley ? Isn't it already part of the cam / aux belt kit ?

Well Renault Blackburn quoted me £465.83 for cam / aux belt and water pump with coolant fitted . How come these prices differ when they're all supposed to be same across the UK ? Very strange :S

I dont know they first said it was £650 and then I asked about this new deal Renault was doing then they changed there price it's very strange

I know that . But Renaults given them a price guide they should be sticking too so prices should be the same whether it be in Bristol or Blackburn . The woman i spoke to on the service desk actually told me that , that it's a national thing .

I just rang my local Renault and asked them about a change of spark plugs and was told that it doesn't include Renault sport models, I then checked on the website and it says excluding v6 not Renault sport. I then rang them back and asked and was told that the prices quoted on the website were only applicable if added to a service! Website states none of this! Good one Renault!

I know where I would take my car , renaults are 2 mins round the corner from me and they even give a courtesy car which is a bonus , plus the Renault stamp will help sell the car ;£)

I went in to my local dealer this morning to "enquire" myself and they didn't even know anything about it... the service manager was honestly shocked when I showed him the webpage and then went in to expletives mode so its obviously been poorly communicated to the franchises. I'm really not sure how they're forcing this thru as the dealers are going to be losing out somewhere on there hourly rate but its *possible* that R-UK are subsidising them(?). If they're reducing the retail and trade prices of the kits though then expect the "Specialists" to respond and be cheaper still.

Its all good for the end users though at the end of the day as you have more choice of where to get the job done plus its not like these cars are current models or worth what they were say 2-3 years ago. I'm suprised they've not excluded the Sports as they traditionally have but again its all good if its true. One minor grey area I did notice in the very limited terms and conditions of this offer is "Other parts at additional cost" line and it saying the £399 service is for "timing belt including aux belt kit" only so I wonder if they're going to be including the crank pulley bolt, fixings and other seals that we do as standard or if they'll be classed as "extras" which you will be billed for at full retail rate? I know it excludes the dampened pulleys so be carefull they don't have you on these as they're not cheap and technically, going on the repair manual process, also need to be replaced when removed.

Good research. Win if it is actually the price of the kits coming down! It's not surprising that they didn't know anything about it though as it doesn't seem very fixed ^^ people have been given different prices.

The woman i spoke to on the service desk said " good news ( for me ) , we just received a notice yesterday from Renault that all the prices had been fixed " as per their website . She said normally it would have cost over £1000 for all this instead of £613  Maybe some of the dealerships are just a bit slow finding out the latest ?? Think i'll just book mine in tomorrow .

Timing Belt (incl. Accessory Belt) - £399 i read that as aux belt only (no kit)

but i'll call up and get them to do the V6 for that price! :D

Read the small print - prices dependant on vehicle, vehicle age and mileage so they will still charge £800+ for timing belt on a 182

  Lionel Richie
Accessory Belt Only £259

WHAT? £259 for an aux belt fitted?? And that's a good price how?

Brake Pads and Discs £259

Expensive

Coolant £89

its £12 for a 5L bottle and takes about 30min??

need i go on?

on a Megane 225/197 etc, if we charged £35 for a cabin filter fitted we'd be earning £4 PER SECOND at their price!

Cant imagine any Renault dealer fitting just a aux belt and not a kit. Normally its more expensive to order a belt on it own than a kit.

Btw if you have brake fluid and coolant changed together, 99% of dealers will do it for £99 and your booked stamped.

£14 for a belt or £72 for a kit ;)

Im not up on he prices but i have seen in the past that just a belt was more expensive than a kit, this was a while ao though.

Just looked on the site, dunno what the fook is going on with the aux belt fitted for 259 lol.

The price Bristol street quoted me today was £499 which was full cambelt kit including seals and crankshaft pulley bolt plus aux belt KIT and water pump plus coolant all in fitted price.
