Rear Brake Compensation Valve?

Hi,

Girlfriends pug 206 failed its MOT today as it needs a new drivers side rear compansation valve?

I dont know what this is, so wouldnt have a clue how to price it. She was quoted £220+VAT then I took her to my mechanic who said he would do it for £140+VAT

Anyone know anything about this?

Bit annoying job really. I would pay £140 as its one of those jobs that could go very wrong
