Well, Where do I start........................

Was just taking the car to fill with fuel for the Lakes. Had a slight missfire then pulled over. Flames shot through the Gearstick, Dash & up the front screen. Bonnet was ablaze as well. I can't remember getting out of the car. The next thing I remember was sat on the roadside watching the whole car burn.
I am gutted beyond belief as I have had this car now for 12 and a half years. I am, for once, Devastated and lost for words.........................................

Pics of the horrible event.

I would have cried. I'm sure the owner did.

You kinda just feel like it's years of his life burning away. Those kind of cars become part of you! :(

Dodgy wiring from the lamps? Overhead cams/fuel pump split? (if it had them) Any cause yet?

I can't begin to imagine how awful that would feel :(

Having to watch your car burn, while you're helpless :(

They do say if you pull over and suspect a fire in the engine bay, to pop the bonnet so that when the fire services arrive they can get access easily.

Judging by that fire, and how bad it was, there is no chance in hell I would be going anywhere near the bonnet!!

:dapprove:

They say to just pull the release lever but don't actually open it yourself so the fire brigade can get into it straight away when they arrive.

This is why you should always have a fire extinguisher in the car, track car or not.

Proper sad to see.

As i said in the thread about the steering wheel catching fire, I remember when people took the piss out of a lad for having one in his car.

He had 2 extinguishers in, but he said it happened so quick he literally only had time to get out.

Deverstating though!

Sad this tbh even if he had a fire extinguisher, the fire was to quick to do anything about it

And also i would be more concerned getting myself away from the car rather than piss about trying to open the bonnet and put the fire out with a proxy little fire extinguisher lol

f**king hell, that is not what i would ever want to happen to my car :dapprove:.

cars like those are not replacable to the owners after soo soo many years of it being in the family.

you would atleast think one person going by would of had a fire extinguisher.....

Your not supposed to fully open the bonnet anyway, makes it so much worse. Oxygen + fire
