Places to change cambelt - South East

  Clio Trophy
Hi all,

Am looking for a reliable, good value place to get the cambelt changed on my 1.2 16V Clio.

Can anyone recommend any places?

I am in the Reading (South East) area.

Cheers guys - thanks for the quick reponses.

I usually get my work done by some friends at a local garage. The garage is well respected albeit not Renault specialists. If I were to buy the parts from Renault and get my local garage to fit them, do you reckon I'd be any worse off than getting JMS or Rentech to do it?

1. depends on how much they'll charge.

2. depends if they use the GENUINE renault tools (important as other tools on market don't set the timing accurately enough)

3. if either of the above doesn't seem quite right, go see one of the specialists!

or, 4. know that you dont need special locking tools for a 1.2 16v ;) I do a LOT of 1.2s. Talk to Tom@JMS

So no special tools are needed for this job on my car? (meaning that it'd be fine for a non-Renault specialist to do?)

it's pretty easy. Still always sensible to go to someone that knows the car. Water pumps are prone to leaking, and tensioners are wrongly fitted and adjusted on a lot that i see

Awesome - will order the parts from Renault tomorrow :)

I want a full cam belt change inc. aux belt - do I need to ask for anything in particular?

Cheers guys!

Would you guys saying changing the water pump is a MUST? The Renault parts manager told me that the pump fitted to my car is not one that commonly fails and for an extra £60, I'm a bit loathed to buy one just for the sake of changing it. Any opinions?
