Ph1 172 won't start

Got in the car one day and turned this ignition and got a fast clicking noise other times it makes no noise at all, in the last day it's had a new battery and a new starter motor yet the car will still not turn over, the garage is suggesting a new power lead to the starter but I don't think this will solve it, has anyone had the problem before or suggest what might be at fault

Earth from body to engine knackered at a guess,
Try putting a jump lead from the battery negative terminal to the lifting eye on the cylinder head while someone turns the key

Yeah sounds like a faulty earth. Had the exact same problem with my last ph1.
