noisy alternator bearings

hi my 172 has started making a noise from the alternator bearings , when i spray a bit of wd40 on it the noise goes away , can the bearings be changed ? or isit a new alternator jobbie ? also can the alternator be swapped over with basic tools ?

I don't think the bearing can be changed, I just replaced the alternator, but it means going through the process you'd normal do for changing the aux belt, theres a guide for it, but its a bit of a pain in the back side, pretty tight. (I'm assuming you've still got your aircon, if not its alot easier)
