Newbie, some question





Hello to all,

Just need some help please, by reading the forum the last few days seems like im in the right place.......

Ok, its time for me to fly the nest and get my own place, unfortunatly running my 2000 reg Bmw 318Ci is costing me too much and ill never leave home at this rate, im looking to get something quick, sporty and fairly cheap to run, a Clio 172 sounds perfect to me,

Can somebody please tell me potential faults things to look out for if im looking at an X reg?!

What could i get for 7-8k?

What year was the Mk2 released?!

If anybody could help it would be much appreciated.

main difference is stlying as its the newer shape, get the newer front end, different wheels

inside, interior is much the same as the newer clios but with the luxury of the 172, dont think there are any major differences in equipment level

there is no power difference either

except some mite argue the silver colours are slower ;)

Thought earliest Mk2 was 2001 Y?? Could be wrong. I think 70% of parts were changed between the mk1 and mk2. Suspension changes, changes to exhaust, airbox etc. Interior changes are most noticeable. Unfortunately, the Mk2 didnt get the colour Renaultsport logo on the seats or the white dials from the Mk1. The Aluminium gearknob was also dropped. The Mk2 has a revised (and much improved imho) dashboard. The mk2 also has xenon headlamps and Climate Control.

The mk1 is quicker to 60 (couple of tenths) due to it being lighter (earlier models had an aluminium bonnet:cool:) but they are similar to the ton. I believe the gearing is also different on the Mk2, giving better acceleration in the higher gears, but I could be wrong.

Mk2 has body coloured bump strips. mk1 has 15" alloys iirc, mk2 has 16". erm... thats all of the top of my head.... there should be more info on the main site. Just need a mk1 owner to come forward and tell me Im spouting b****cks..lol..

Am liking the look of squirts car though!!:) Is 8 k a good price for that reg and mileage?
