I have a 182 had it 3 years and it handles like a go cart, even round roundabouts in the wet. I have total faith and confidence in the car. They are brillint cars. Have you checked tread depth on tyres. also make of tyres i have fouund 172/182 dont like pirellis. also shocks to maked sure they are ok. Then if you got it 2nd hand make sure it has not been rear ended.

The 172/182 are brillant handling cars, check the car over ie suspension, tyres treads and pressures and make of the tyres as well. If still not happy then ring somewhere like ktec, gdi or yozza who will happliy give u advice to what it could be.

Heater will be a new fan control pack which unfortuantely are £100 for the part alone but they're easy to fit. Loose back end will be either good tyres on front s**t ones on the back, low tread or leaking rear dampers.

All simple enough to sort and not too costly.

Where abouts are you? Can help you with it no probs if your close.

Be rear shocks imo, sometimes they dont even look like they are leaking. I remember one went on my 172, proper ropey lol!!!! Felt like it was going to step out at every corner!!

I can confirm that my 172 handles extremely well.

I came from a heavy barge (escort gti) so it would seem that way anyway, but it hasn't stepped out on me yet.

I did take the mick around a roundable the 2nd night Ihad it and it felt like it was going to, but as I said I hit a roundabout too fast.

check rear shocks asap!

If it is the rear shocks, they're both cheap and easy to fit diy. There's a guide on here.

I did mine in 30 mins. Think they were £80 for the two.

consider birchdown garge to chec it out for you mate, renault rs experts and not a million miles from you. may work out better value for money having them check it over and let you know whats up than start replacing bits without having them checked.

hi im having the same problem mate only had the car since april 24,000 miles took it back too the garage and they said there was nothing wrong with it so i contacted the finance company and they told me too get an independant garage too look at it. and they would reimburse me the £82+vat (which renault charged me).anyway they confirmed it was the rear passenger side shock, but it had been done awhile ago as all the fluid had already leaked. ive owned several 172"s and 182"s and when they are running well mate they stick too the road like s**t too a blanket so get this minor problem sorted and go and have some fun

What tyres have you got on the rear? Stick to the Michelin PE2s, they are great tyres to have on there...

  Shhh
What tyres are fitted, ive had problems with the back end coming out what lifting off before corners, just got to be off-on to keep the back end happy.

Sorry mate but this seems a little bit of a silly post. Flaming a aside. If your going over a metal grid, then your car is going to slide dependant on speed. Last night i went over a cattle grid and must of slid about 1 meter and cacked my pants as usually its never happened before.

ANyway, one easy way to test is to drive around corners, roundabouts with a bit of pace and test the handling that way. Dont let a cattle grid make or break the car....

My apologies if youve already tested it and it still occurs, but u did just say in original post it was on the grid only.

Regards

Also check the steering rack. I had one go on my 172 cup, and the handling was VERY lairy, widow maker. Get it to Birchdowwn, they know the MK2 Clio inside out (both own 172's)

cheapest place to get dampers boys? the car is unsafe to drive at the mo, i go down this particular road nearly every day an its bumpy an alot of corners, doing 30mph the back end just wants to bounce out, noty slide out, its weird!
