New Car ( Alfa Content )

  Mk5 golf gti
Ok so as some may know i have been on the look out for a car for the coming winter

i have test drove cars ranging from fiesta zetec s and focus st170 to golf gti's and bmw 323's

Im so indecisive its unreal lol but last week i got an email from someone saying they had an alfa 147 in that they had taken in part ex and they wanted 2500 for it

so off i went for a look, first thing i noted was how much of a good looking car it is especially with these wheels (all new tyres too)

it had around 60k miles on it and the interior was awesome with the full black leather with red sticthing, and heated seats too

it has full service history and had the chocolate cambelt changed less than 10k ago so i was quite happy with that

so after checking everything we arranged a test drive after college

on the test drive it was a great car to drive very comfy and very solid with no noises from anywhere and i wasnt expecting much from the engine in terms of performance but it pulls quite well and i was very surprised

i did notice the thermostat needs changing so hopefully get a few more mpg once that is done this week, its currently sat on 30 mpg which is very good imo with the knackered thermostat

so anyway some pics :)

the plan is to get this running at its best and sort some of the classic comedy electrics :) but thats all part of the fun i suppose (or so i tell myself)

anyways ill try an update and see how i get on with it

comments and advice welcome :)

Looks well mate, needs to be in red though :)

silver isnt high in my fav colours either

but for the full service history the spec wheels and the price i ended up paying i couldnt find one in another colour

Lovely cars. I really really rate them.

Find a good specialist for servicing and repairs and you're laughing.

Ahh right. Someone at work has a 147 of some variety and I have to say the interior is a nice place to be. His appears similar to yours with the BOSE sound system and leather.

Very nice, I love the look of these, really got softspot for the second phase of the 147GTA's with the bigger brakes.

Thanks :) a lot of people like the car when they see it
But I keep getting the usual 'you bought an alfa? You will forevever have problems'
I suppose its this talk which makes such a high spec car so cheap
I'm sure these people believe the whole german cars are bulletproof hype

;)

Mate of mine has a 147 GTA, and it's stunning. Love 147's, be it a GTA or not. I never realised they were so cheap!

The best thing about alfa's is the steering. THE most direct response in the world.

Ok so carried out a small service and gave the engine bay a good cleaning, took a few parts off and pressure washed them

then used trim cleaner

and to get the stubbourn bits off the engine cover i used some wonder wheels lol quick blast and it was sparkling

also used some autosol to revive the front chrome grill as it was a bit dim and mouldy :dead:

also postie dropped off another parcel this morning :D

Very under rated cars, enjoy that engine, it's a pearler.

(Now check your oil, I know you've just changed it, but they drink the stuff!)
