I've noticed that when I'm driving with my lights on main beam at night, they don't seem to light up very much of the road ahead of me, maybe 20 feet or so. Now I don't know if thats just the way the Mk3 lights are, but it seems a bit odd to me as I can't see all that much.
I only got the car about 4 weeks ago, and I specifically went back to the dealer and to check the beams as originally one was dimmer than the other, even after their "300 and whatever" point check of the car. They sorted that and said they were now fine.
Is adjusting the beam something that needs to be done by a garage? The adjuster on the dash only makes the beam shorter as its set to the longest.
I'll try and get a photo tomorrow night if I remember
