mk1 cutting out, low tickover

My girlfriend's got a mk1 1.8 RSi and recently it's been drinking fuel and you can smell it a bit too in the car. anyway now its only just ticking over at about 500rpm and keeps cutting out when when she dips the clutch to change gear. Any ideas whats going on with it?

Try cleaning the ISCV for the idling problem, also can't hurt to give inside the TB a good clean.

Fpr the fuel smell on mine the lines that go up to the fuel rail were cracked etc and so i changed them, this solved the fuel smell

cool how do i clean the iscv? and what would i do to clean the throttle body? i'll get them fuel lines changed too as they are 10 years old so won't hurt i spose. how much are they roughly?
