Megane intercooler on to a clio

I am currantly fitting a 96 Megane DT engine to my Mk1 PH3 1.9D Clio.
I'm finding fitting the standard intercooler difficult, because there just is no space for it.
I am thinking of cutting in a space for it behind the headlights into the wheel arch but dont know if this would affect the chassis structure.
Any help would be good, Thanks

Thats where it is in the 19td, not sure about the meg, Just get an aftermarket intercooler?
