Matt's Artic Blue 182

  E46 M3, Clio 182
So 3 weeks ago I bought an Artic Blue 182 as a run about while I store my M3 for winter. This is now my 4th clio after owning a 172 and 2 other 182's.

The clio was previously owned by a friend, therefore I know it's been looked after. On 65k and only mods consisting of a miltek, bilstien B14's. A couple of pictures from the day I bought it.

Since then I've done a couple of mods, changes and general tidying, but haven't been brilliant at picturing all (sorry!). The plan is to keep it as sensble as possible for the road, but do some trackdays next year.
Changes consist of:
- New 15" TD pro race 1.2 with AD08R'S.
- black xenon headlights
- black diamonds
- removed the 'renault sport' badges
- 100mm brake ducts
- sun strip
- sparco wheel
- stripped interior

So how the car currently looks

ff2c0085da36cf2ef137b2bf46c63980.jpg

I've also just purchased some 4-pot 280mm brembos with DS2500 pads and new discs, they are currently red, but will be painted artic blue.

Future plans:
- remove all tar and spray interior black
- 2 corbeau buckets seats
- rear cage
- harnesses
- pms shifter
- pms solid mounts/brace
- white line ARB

Will do my best to take some more progress pictures with the upcoming changes!

Thanks for looking :)

Looking very good mate, do like the Arctic Blue ones, and looks very tidy and well looked after. I ended up getting another 182 myself a couple of months back as I missed my old Black Gold one like crazy!

Would love those Brembo's for mine!

Look forward to seeing your updates. M3 is nice too.

Cheers for the comments.

I did spot you'd bought a LY182, looks very good mate! You're braver than me driving a yellow clio!

This clio is suppose to be a cheap winter car, but I can't see that happening some how.

I had 300mm brembos for it, got them refurbished black and hadn't fitted them when I sold the car.. the new owner didn't want them though.

Bit of an update:

Removed all the interior, including carpets, took out the foam and sound deadening, decided to stick the carpet back in for now until the interior is painted.

Finished

Also stripped down the brembos, including the pots. Managed to get a block of wood between them and encourage them out with a compressor.
These are off to the paint shop tomorrow along with some interior trims. Decided to colour match the car (artic blue).

Corbeau bucket seats have arrived (new). I'm a 32" waist but went for the larger seat, because my dad will also be using the car on track. I'm glad I didn't, they're tight enough, but still have enough room.

X-low subframes have been ordered and should be here this week, so I can get them fitted this week.

Lastly, managed to get a genuine trophy/v6 spoiler off Ebay. Being sent tomorrow, so that will head straight off to the paint shop too.

Been an expensive couple of weeks, but feel the clio is getting closer and closer to how I want it :)

Cheers.

Another update to keep pictures etc in here.

Subframes arrive and have fitted one seat (drivers). Yet to fit the passengers due to hopefully getting the interior sprayed black soon. I'm on x-low frames with corbeau clubsports (including runners), I'm 5'11 and really happy with the seating position.

Genuine trophy spoiler arrived, good condition, wrong colour so was sent to the paint shop, along with some interior parts and the brembos. Couple of pictures to follow (light doesn't show the true colour in the pictures).

Decided to replace the rear discs and pads (genuine) at the same time, so they have been ordered. Hopefully all to be fitted in the week.

Very nice. What did you pay for the spoiler if you dont mind me asking ;-).

Love the matching brembos!
Cheers mate. Paid £300 + paint for the spoiler, also came with genuine shorter struts, found it browsing ebay and could resist!

Bit of an update.

Managed to get the front calipers on, with new discs and DS2500 pads... then I got carried away! Also fitted:
- new wishbones and ball joints
- poly bushed rear trailing arm bushes
- new genuine rear discs and pads
- front and rear braided lines

Pictures aren't brilliant, but feels so good to drive now it's all fresh.

This weekend I need to clean out the coil over threads as they're very grotty. Fit the trophy spoiler and interior trims.

Looks lovely and great progress.
Coming from an Abarth grande pinto with big brembo brakes I'd love to have some on my 172.

Cheers for all the kind words guys.. early finish from work on a Friday meant I got a chance to fit some more bits today.

Started off removing the dash and taking out the passenger airbag
20170113_133832.jpg

Removed the clocks and fitted the colour coded bezzle

Refitted the dash and added the new colour coded trims

Although I need to paint the interior, I fitted the new bucket, as a second seat is useful..! Corbeaus on Jon foz X-Low mounts with runners, I'm 5'11 and they are perfect height.

Last but certainly not least, the genuine trophy spoiler. Not further words needed..!

Another weekend, another update!

Got some 5mm spacers for the rear, definitely makes it look slightly more aggressive, which I like

Also bought a new pms shifter. When arrived:

And fitted:

The shifts feel so much better and precise and the higher position is really nice.

This is really interesting to see with the PMS shifter, just can't make up my mind whether I want one or not as the height in theory puts me off.......... you say you get on ok with the height? Yours is the only other Clio I've seen after mine with that steering wheel so gives me an idea what it would all look like LOL!

I really rate it, but it's still early days. It does take a little setting up to get it right, if your local to me, your willing to take the car for a spin to help you make up you mind! :)

I'm way over in Norfolk mate but that's a kind offer anyway, thanks  what was it like to fit? Do you notice much more noise and/or vibrations coming through the car?

  E46 M3, Clio 182
No worries. I lucky had a ramp in a workshop, so it wasn't too bad, it's just the messing around setting it up to ensure you can select all the gears. Not noticed any more noise/vibrations, but it's early days and the cars stripped out anyway.

I have a scenic shifter, similar height (if not higher) and id say the height is the best thing about it!

I really like both of your cars! I have a question regarding the 182.

In the first pictures when you bought the car did it have any spacers fitted to the front or did you just add the 5mm ones to the rear after you had fitted the 15in TD?
