Matching my inlets

  Clio 172 ph1
I know there are several threads on this and I have looked though them.

However I am in the process of matching my inlets and have done the ports that meet the head.... took a while!

Now I've matched up the ports between the top and lower inlet and they seem pretty well matched already. Also i noticed they are almost the size of the gasket from factory.

Therefore is it worth touching these as you'd only make them 1mm big max. Only other thought was to open them up and make a gasket to suit.

Pen mark below is the size of the metal gasket

unless you're going to double dowel them then you won't get the full (minimal) benefit of them.

upper to lower inlet has one dowel so it will still turn around this by a couple of mm, drill it anf fit another one and will line up properly. you'd need to do the same on the lower to the head as well.

Ah ok that does makes sense, will do that.

Still looking at other matched inlets from specialist and it looks like they have taken lots of material off the ports, but then surely the metal gasket then becomes the restriction...

Might sound a daft question but what difference would this make as surely the 6 bolts would stop it moving anyway so an extra dowel wouldn't do anything?

you don't need to open them up as match them. ideally you'd sort both faces out and run without a gasket.

crack the bolts off and see how much the upper inlet will twist on the dowel.
