Knocking noise, is it the dog bone mount?

  172 Cup
Ok before anyone says I have had a read through threads and searched around but not 100% sure still. I purchased my 172 cup 2 days ago and noticed when I give it some revs in first mainly there is a knocking/tapping noise from the front although today it happened in 2nd while gunning it from 1st with the noise continuing. Could someone identify the problem and if so what product to get, as if it is the dogbone where can you get them standard as ebay dosent seem to have them hmmm?

Yeah most likely dogbone mount 1st, then lower gearbox mount (located under the battery) second if the problem still exists.

Your best bet is to get a poly bush kit, theres a guide in the guides section if you become a member, you just take the dog bone off, smash the old bushes out and slot the new bushes in.

If thats not your thing and just want to stay OEM, an oem dog bone will be fine for replacement.

where are you mate? ive ordered a std dogbone into a garage in manc but dont need it now cos i got a polybushed one. it's still making the knocking in first but its got rid of the majority of it. will change the upper gearbox mount next.

I've just been to two garages including a renault specialist and they had a look under the car and said the dog none mount isn't too bad, ie it wobbles a slight bit but not excessively, I've been told the engine mounts look fine any ideas or is slight wobble on the dogbone a concern?

could be upper engine mount, mine does the same thing cos its shagged, can see the movement in it when someone else is revving the car.
