in search of more power

  RenaultSport clio 172 mk2
hi guys im still contemplating on what to do with my clio next, having spoken to jon (thejesus) and benr they highly reccommend an itb conversion.

i would like to keep my aircon ideally as i use the car as an everyday car, which puts me off itb's, ive had a look at gdi's single large tb conv and it does look really good

ive also looked at bbtuning's 'Cams / Inlet Manifold / ECU / Headwork / Forged Piston Package' and they claim around 220bhp for around 3k. (do changing the pistons on a n/a engine get more power???)

ive had my inlets matched so i can shave off a bit of cost but i was wondering whether it would be better to just go for and extreme n/a route, but again the only thing putting me off that is that i get a 5k bang, whereas i would want power all they way round the rev range.

ideally i would like benR to do the headwork and his cams with the gdi individual tb with the omex 600 management but im not sure on how much power this would get.

any inputs from people that have done any of the above would be great!

Talk to BenR about his new manifold but I'm sure BenR can make your air con work with ITB's

220hp fropm bb seems high but yep H?C pistosn do make more torque and power not realy need to go to pistosn though stock should be fine plus the build cost of a strip down and rebuilt is a lot ITB's would be better IMO or head work cams intake mnaifold work etc.

BenR can have cams ground to loads of specs best ring him to discuss.

yeh ben can make itbs work but it will require the trumpets to get cut etc - losing me a bit of power, which then makes the gdi single tb look a bit better value along with the n/a route

there was an artic blue 182 (i think) for and i cant find the link, but it has angleworks headwork, billet cams, the only one with angelworks stage 2 inlet manifold, omex 600 and got 217bhp with 180lbt, something like that would be ideal!

yea i spotted this the other night shame bens only ever done one stage 2 inlet! but i spoke to ben earlier this week and i'd keep an eye on his development but im also heavily considering the itb route

i think i will need to speak to ben about what i want, really want to get more torque out the car!

Not getting into it all but the only person Ive heard of you got the gdi single throttle body conversion was Stoddie, and he was disappointed with it

after speaking to yoz i think ill give the single tb route a miss for now and concentrate on getting headwork, cams and remap done for time being!

when we first developed the TOCA single TB conversion it was mainly done to bin the FBW shite on the 172/182 which it did

but the conversion worked out a bit pricey for 0 gains, so we binned the idea, and we now use the renault sport conversion kit, for less money (as per hill power)

Guessing it removes the leccy TB from the later models and replaces everything with the mk1 kit? What happens to the ECU, is that changed/effected?

advantage? its better than FBW, no power gians though

its pretty much bolt on, speak to matty w, he had his done by hillpower

you're basically converting your engine to mk1 172 spec

price £tba

so it turns it in to a ph1? why not sell up and buy a ph1 you'll have loads of spare cash then for extra mods
