i want to change the head unit in my 172 but ive been told that the cd changer will not work. Is this true, has anyone changed there unit and got cd changer workin??

Forget it!

They have butchered the 2 units (head and changer) so much to get them talking.

I left my head and changer alone and went down the speakers and amp route...this way from the outside, it looks totally standard and less likely to be broken into for ICE.

Sounds great even without a sub!

im looking to install my 6x9s and sub and 2 amps. can i do this with the std head unit. and if so is it a pain in the ass

long as uve got pre-outs at the back. if not u have to convert the normal speaker cables. not too hard to do though just takes longer.

Nobby nobby ; You can do as you ask as long as you get an amp that accepts speaker inputs. The head unit doesnt have a pre-out. It makes the wiring slightly more complicated but not too hard . If your are ever down in Edinburgh you are welcome to come and have a look at the way I have wired mine!
