How to get optimum sound/picture ?

  A4 oil burner !!!
Ok, my stand and home cinema kit has arrived but still waiting on my TV:dapprove:

The sony DAV-DZ260 has 850 watts (RMS) but would it be possible to use my floor standing Eltax speakers (200 watt) as the surround speakers as they are currently either side of my sofa wired to my NAD amp??? Bearing in mind they are bi wired:S

Would they give the same sound quality as the little sony units (considering the cost etc) and can you just attach the one pair of wires to them as the sony digital amp has different connections???

Thanks

Sorry more questions

I wantthe best picture/sound quality from the new TV (sony KDL-32v4000) so is it just an HDMI cable from the new amp to TV then is it a scart and optical cable from TV to sky+ box to get the 5.1 sound from watching normal TV (albeit via sky)???

^^ Ya, I'm assuming by amp you mean, the DAV-Z260.

DVD-AMP to TV via HDMI

SKY+ to TV via scart

SKY+ to DVD-AMP via optical.

Not sure on the speakers question, don't know how the speaker cables will be for the DVD unit, our sony unit had special clips to connect speakers to DVD unit.

Yes the dvd unit has special clips but could i use the speaker wire with the clips to wire the eltax speakers as they just have the adapter on one end? I am just unsure if you can use just one speaker wire (+'ve and -'ve) to connect to bi-wired speakers?

iirc you can plug the bi-wired speakers into a normal amp. Not sure if its best to just plug the +- into the amp then split them to the 2 pairs on the speaker or make use of both your A-B speaker outputs on the amp.
Also I would use the floor standers as your main speakers if they're bigger and better.
One last thing, you can get a DVD called Digital Video Essentials. its very good for setting your picture and sound perfectly.
