How much would you pay for this?

  WANTED Arctic 182
Just need some input on what you think this car is worth:

http://www.tempestforcars.co.uk/view.asp?ID=11169

Took it out for a test drive tuesday and it seemed faultless. Exterior and interior was pretty much mint too.

The guy gave me a part exchange price of 3400 on my car, I thought that was fair.

Just wondering...If i was to make an offer where do I start?

Obviously I wanna try and get tax and warranty inc too.

This will be my first sport so not that sure about the price.

Thanks in advance

seems like your getting a good price for your car mate and the cup looks spot on 6995 would be over priced without a part ex but taking that into account it's a good deal IMO matey go for it

belts done?

Don't need em, not 5 years yet/ 72k (says its an 05 model). Could try and haggle on it but thats what the garage will say.

As for price, I'd say its a bit over the top but I imagine it would come with warranty/ comeback etc. Good mileage too and it sounds like you getting a good price for yours (also saves the hassle of selling it!) Its only £1200 over priced if you compare it to a private sale.

Thats a decent price for a decent car.

No matter what people say, you get what you pay for.
Sure you could get a 70k mile 04 plate 182 in 'average' condition for 5k. But if you want a mint car you pay for it.

I'd offer him your car plus 3k and take it from there.
He will want to sell the car as much as you want to buy it.

Mate, you will get people on here who say £100 will be too much and people who will say its a bargain!

At the end of the day its not their money, if you are happy with it then go for it. Do some price checking on autotrader/piston head etc and make your own mind up. Then you will be happy knowing you did the right thing.

I wont comment on the price but if you want to haggle a little the key is to make it clear you will deal that day if they meet ur requirements. I have worked in the motor trade for 5 years now and if someone is going to buy there and then they will try there best to secure a deal. Dont make silly demands like asking for £5k for it for example but be firm and be prepared to walk away if needed.

For example - Tell them £6500 with Tax and hold you hand out to the guy and see what he says.

You may struggle to get any discount as it looks like they have stood ur px in for less and added discount already (called a writeback). Best thing if you are not sure is get them to give you a break down of the deal and how ur car has been added to the deal.

Anway, looks nice mate and good luck.

PM me if you have any questions on the car buying process etc :)

But he needs the px (and is getting a good trade in price by the sounds of it). Screen prices mean very little when you have a px.

Its all about re-sale too for the dealer, they know a 1.4 ph3 will attract more possible buyers than a 1*2 as the market for it is not as specialised. I would like to see the actual figures of the deal itself as I am sure they will have discounted it already and stood his px in for less.

tell them you want £130 off or a new splitter too!

Good idea. I was thinking about telling him that! :approve:

I think it's overpriced, not by much though. I'll be happy if I get it for my car plus £3000 cash with warranty, tax and MOT included. Some renault dealers want £8000 for exactly the same car/condition. It's local and easy to px my car so would also save money on looking around for a cheaper one.

I have asked about the belts but it's unlikely they will be done considering they don't need doing for another year.

The guy knows his stuff too. Was taking the 182 for a test drive and he looked back at my car and said "Your car looks better with the bigger alloys." I didn't think it was that easy to tell the difference between 15" Dynamique and the 172 wheels! He alse spotted where I've had some work/respray done on the rear wing! (must of been a bad job).

Do you think the offer I am making to him is fair? I reckon it's only over by a couple of hundred and I would get some of that for selling the 172 wheels.

Thanks

^ If your car is the same as the one cited in the OP, I still think that was on the expensive side!

£50 MOT
£100 Tax (?)
£580 for a WarrantyWise Private warranty
-------------------
£730
-------------------

Means that you paid £6170 for the car.

However, in real terms I would expect a car at that value to have an MOT and tax which makes it £6320, which in this market, is overpriced IMO!
