The covers do come off, it's pretty much common sense.
Remove the headrest and start at the bottom of the seat, where the back joins the bottom.
Basically there's a couple of strapping points down at the join, then you can pull the cover up a little, this reveals some metal split rings, you need long nose pliers to get inbetween these and undo them, make sure you keep them as you'll need them when refitting.
