Well at the weekend I decided to give my alloys a much needed refurbishment.

So I decided to take pictures of the progress whenever I remembered to .
Below are some of the pictures I took, the order might seem slightly strange but its just because some of the steps I forgot to take pictures of on the first alloy.

Here is what they looked like before I started.

Next step was to clean the alloys and start to mask the tyre.

Newspaper and electrical earthing tape did the rest :rasp:

Once the sanding was complete, the filler was then added to the deep cuts.

This was then sanded down ready for the first layer of primer.

After the first layer of primer had dried the small bumps were sanded down.

And the primer was applied again.

Once the final layer of primer had dried the base coat of anthracite was applied.

Three layers of this was applied and then another three layers of lacquer.
While doing this the caps were also done as you can see in the next image. :rasp:

Here is an image of one of the alloys completed and two of the primed and drying.

After all the alloys were lacquered they were left overnight to dry.

I'm very happy with the final result. Its a massive improvement over the state of the alloys before.
I wish I took more pictures of the different stages but I always forget things like that. :dapprove:

Good job, get some axle stands though!

Bet it took you forever to get rid of that filler, looks like you went a little OTT!!!

Thanks.

It was still wet there so alot of that got wiped off before it dried.

Awesome transformation!! Wish I had the ability, time and patience to do mine!!! Did you paint the 'allen' bolts on the caps too tho?

What sort of match is the anthracite to the original colour?

and if it's a good match could you tell me what it is please as I fancy doing my spare as a rubbish garage made a mess of it.

The match isn't perfect, which is why I decided to do the caps aswel. It's a tiny bit darker.
