HID conversion

  Looking for a Clio Sport
Has anyone on here had their clios headlights converted?

was it easy to do or would it be better getting a qualified person to do it all?

no one has any pics?

182 Xenon front clusters.

More pics here: http://gallery.getflat.co.uk/v/My_Cars/2003_Clio_16_16v_Dynamique/Xenons/

The Ph2 172 FF and 182 FF will come with them as standard.

I've just done it. You just replace the headlight. The height level adjustment still works. But it means taking of the front bumper to change the headlights.

See the attached pictures.

A Haynes manual would be a good idea.

bmh, what bulbs have you got in side light?

Some shitty led ones from halfrauds, keep meaning to order some of those superbright ones off the net to replace them tbh. They look better than normal sidelight bulbs though I guess.

lol ah right isn't there 2 bulbs that go in the centre light? the side light and full beam isn't it? what bulbs fit into these? at the moment I've got some H1 HID xenon (spelt zenon on the packet lol) bulbs. will these fit?

Thanks and sorry for kind of stealing the thread mate :( It should help you out though :)

I wouldnt bother they`re not that much better than standard ones .Thats my opinion anyway.

True, the beam pattern on the standard clusters is much better. The projector 'scatters' the xenon lamps all over the shop. Look cool though.

Any car that does not have auto self levelling lights, cannot take Xenon lights. Pretty sure it also has to have headlamp washers, although I believe that is only applys to brand new cars. TBH its a legal loophole mindfield. There are widespread reports of MOT failures and its being crackdowned on more and more. That said You could run them for years and never get caught.

Don't forget in the eyes of the law its illegal not to have a Catalyst for the MOT. Its up to you.

Ralph do you know anywhere where i can get the full spec and rundown on a car im buying

its a 1.6 dynamique plus, 51 plate

id like to get all the info on it like spec, electrics everything really

thanks

Basically, If it didn't leave Renault with Xenon lights, I'd resign myself to the fact that I don't have them.

Not sure the lowdown on what models came with/without Xenons barring the V6 and Renaultsport clios from ph2 onwards (minus the cups and trophys). Come to think of it, I THINK the dci100 had the option of xenons............but don't quote me on that.

There are two bulbs in the inner optic, the main beam bulb is in there two. On my original halogen clusters the main beam is a H1 but on these its H7 :S. So yes they'll fit the standard lights and if there just bulbs then there 100% not hids lol.

The xenon bulbs are D2S bulbs in the proper xenon clusters.

Yes retrofitting just the xenon clusters is "illegal" due to a lack of washers (which do f**k all bar make a mess of the front of the car) and autoleveling. Its a grey area I guess just like a decat, I took them out for the MOT but i've had mine in for over a year now and have never been stopped etc. Its all piddly s**t anyway.

where did you get your bulbs bmh?
did you buy the cluster as a package or was it standard with the car?
can you buy clusters?

Bought them off someone on here for the absolute bargain price of £160, specialist renault breakers sell them for £350 a set. The whole lot from renault is circa £1k.

  See My Clio? Tell Me
this thread seems rather confussing the guy was asking about hid kits and every one is posting about zenons ?????

  BMW M135i
We are on about HIDs, I wouldn't have payed £160 for some bulbs! I'm fully aware that there actually HID Xenons rather than just xenon filled halogen bulbs, but everyone calls them xenons rather than hids.

And you don't want to be putting those ~£90 ebay HID kits in the standard Mk2 Ph2> halogen clusters for a start.
