Hi, I'm a newby...need some advice already I'm afraid...

  Clio 172 Cup
Hi everyone

I just bought a 172 MKII Cup as a second car and it's fair to say the first week of ownership havn't been the smoothest. I knew the timing belt reuired changing and bartered according when purchasing. It went into a Renault garage with an total estimated cost of £400, two days later and a new de-phaser pulley etc - car is back...£600 lighter :( ah well..onwards and upwards, you would think....

The car is now running like a dawg! It's like it's misfiring on tick over and the power pick seems 'more subdued' than prior to the work. I was told by another mechanic that this could be signs of the timing belt being fit "one tooth out".

I am not techy when it comes to cars (yet), does this sound right? My car is running like sh** and it's cost me £600 to get it into this state.

Any advice, knowledge, judgement is most apprieciated.

Renault dealership or specialist?

Best thing to do is take it back, show and tell them and they should fix it.
