Lower engine mount bushes? I used to have issues with 3rd and reverse, uprated the bushes to powerflex ones and its been fine since.

Do you have gearstick wobble as well? My lower gearbox mount had a massive split in it which wasn't helping my gear shifts. Although it sounds more like a gearbox sync problem to me; not an expert on these matters though.

hhmmm intresting replys.... i work at a motor factory at the time so i get a pretty good discount... how do i see what a naffed gear box looks like ??? How will it be ?

Oh bdw... no gear stick movement... no wobble just a bloody effort to get it into gears most times! its like something is in the way of putting the gears in gear

Can't help you on what a messed up gearbox looks like I'm afraid!

I had exactly the same symptoms as you though, felt like I was hitting something when trying to get into gear. I'm struggling to remember if the new mount solved this or not, as the car's been off the road for a while; I have a feeling it didn't solve it actually.

Trying to think logically I imagine that something isn't lining up correctly in the gearbox, which is to do with the syncro isn't it? I dunno.

your preety much bang on mate,... i feel something in my gears aint lined up correctly...

Becuase, when im in neutral... and i put it into first, its totally fine , no resistance or nothing,

Now when im in neutral, and put it in 5th, you know how you would to check you out of gear, but only when i try and put it in 5th, its like a crunky feeling, like a resistance feeling aswell through the gears... this is on a stand still bdw... its like it has resistance like a clunking resistance ??

Any idea now ?

Short answer. No.
I would imagine you'd need to get a gearbox specialist to sort it out (if it is that), or just buy another box.
You'd be best off getting somebody who knows more about this sort of thing to take a look at it first before shelling out for a new box or a rebuild though, since it could be caused by other stuff (linkages, mounts, etc...).

what grade was the Carlube you've just put in it, and did it feel any different beforehand?

they seem sensitive to the correct grade (75/80) and a decent quality of oil - defo worth trying that before anything else
