Chopping in the E46 330i for something a little newer, better looking, and more economical

Not loving the lemon/champagne trim though, but luckily it has the black dash and carpets, so last night I drove to West Yorkshire to pick up an LCI alcantara trim. No more hot seats in summer and cold seats in winter.

I don't get it, surely there were hundreds for sale with the interior you wanted

Very nice, although would rather have leather than alcantara, although you can make a nice lump of money on the leather if you sell it.
Any other plans for it?

I got offered this at a decent price, know the cars history since 2010, and got to trade my 330 in so no pissing about selling. Plans at the moment are a remap, swap the seats and keep my eye out for some 18" MV3s

@Cookson Let me know if you sell the 194 wheels on there please. Maybe interested in them. I tried 18's but as mine is the se it looked like a 4x4!

I keep thinking it looks really "under-wheeled" in photors. Looks better IRL.

Bit of an update. Bought some MV2 replicas in 19". Tried them on, instantly regretted it, looks like a 5 series

31303710190_6776753c1b_c.jpg

Quickly removed and sold them on. Decided to replace with some CSL rims. 8.5 front and 9.5 rear

Got them off a lad on the BMW forum. They have different springs depending on engine size etc.

Rides lovely now, much better than the crashy Msport stuff. Back seems a little too low now though, given the front hasnt gone down much. Might lob a coil off

What is a 320d going to scare with that 'move' plate?? Lol

Good cars though, I'll probably get one next as they're good value now.

Looking good mate. Looks similar to my brother only he's got a twin exhaust. hes had a hybrid turbo fitted and remapped. The thing has sooo much tourqe it spins the world.

I preferred it when you bought it.
Now it just looks a bit pikey.
...and that plate. THAT PLATE.

Each to their own I suppose

Great value, still look pretty fresh, and they shift when you need them to

This is getting more and more Bradford with every post.

I prefer the term "Bradistan"

Yeah, the rear seems to have settled too much for my liking. I am thinking I might see if i can order the proline rears to bring it back up a little

Cheers dude. I just wish it was a manual as the auto box seems to kill the torque

I'm just glad that you've spaced that plate correctly now.
Are xenons an expensive retrofit? They improve the look of these 100%.

I dont like the plate how its spaced

Yeah, xenons are super expensive. It's plug n play, but like £500 for a set of headlights. I can get some to "fit in", but would have to get a pair of standard headlights to play with

My 320d has the standard dangly dick type backbox which I absolutely detest as it really ruins the look of the car. So, I have 2 options.

Backbox delete with twin 3" tails in the standard spot, or dual 4" like the 335i (already have the diffuser in the shed). Now I've listened to multiple youtube vids and cannot hear any difference between the two. It seems to make more of a difference if the centre section has also been removed (which I am also considering).

Place close to me does the following:

Twin 3" for £109.99

Coupled with centre section at £45.00

Or, 335i style which is just backbox delete for £225.00

Now, I do like the look of the 335i style, but keep getting a niggling in my head that it isn't a 335i/d and I should go for the standard looking twin instead.

Arrrggghhh

Standard twin for me. 335 looks too try hard. How do these sound with a delete?

Quiet as s**t from what I can find on youtube, until you take out the centre silencer too, which then seems to open them up, but diesels never sound as good as petrol

I would never do anything to alter how a diesel engine sounds to be honest. They sound a bit pants as standard but, as soon as you start modifying the exhaust/intake, they sound 1000% worse. The number of modified VAG diesels round my way, they just sound tragic. Remaps and the like I 100% understand, but don't try and make it sound good because it never will 😂

I do quite like this, but actually think the wheels would look better in silver. Nice cars and getting to be decent value now too.

You mean the whistles and whooshes from Golfs/Skodas and the like? I quite like em ha ha

I had the wheels shopped in Silver, but they didn't quite look right

When I say how do they sound I meant how bad..lol! Pretty much no diesel sounds good unless it has lots of cylinders and a big turbo or two.

Mine has the same horrendous exhaust, It looks so bad. I'd do a back box delete for a twin pipe just so long as it wasn't much louder.

My brother has the 335i style exhaust on his 320d tourer. It looks great tbh. Doesn't sound too bad. But his isn't standard and it's silly silly quick

I'd just go for the twin tailpipe on the left. 335i/d exhausts on a 4 cylinder diesel is a tad lame imho.
On the flipside, maybe go the whole hog & add some M3/5 badges, dark tints & polish numberplate surrounds as well?
You missed wind deflectors..;)

_Tom

And some stick on ebay DRLs round the foglights or in the grilles
Mine came with full tints, wind deflectors, M Sport number plate surrounds but the finest was when you opened the door it projected a BMW sign on the floor.. :tongueclosed: That was a shock when I first opened the door at night. Jesus Christ. I still need puddle lights as I've disconnected them in shame.

I've got my glow plugs and swirl flaps to attempt tomorrow..
