  172cup
lol my boss is a tempremental chef... and laughed at me when i said that my little blue clio would kill him in his CLK 230 kompressor. He just said " dont be stupid mines got a supercharger".

He hasn't realy spoke to me since i overtook him on the motorway a while back.

  Valver Lookalike Mk1 Ph3
Hmm, can a clio really beat a CLK 230 Kompressor? Or does he just not know how to drive?

  172 cup TT
My sister would constantly call my car a girlie car!!! ALL THE DAMN TIME...

she doesnt anymore as i set her on fire...

I love my bi weekly dealership visits, but at least they don't cost me.

  Clio 182 Trophy
At the moment, I just say I drive a Focus to anyone who asks. And I'll say the same about the 172.
Going any deeper makes you look a bit silly IMO.

  Black Dynamique 1.4 16v
ive got a black 1.4 16v dynamique, wheels, tints, springs etc.. and my bros mate took the piss when he saw my car cos he said its a bit of a pussy's car, after i said "f**k you!" i asked, "what car you got", he goes a smartcar!!? i said yeh it looks like a fuckin rollerskate!

  Golf GTI 1.8T
lol @ this thread. I get it everyday at work, is a good laugh though they made a new one today and I now drive a 'gayo' lol

but annoyingly I cant show them what a little hot hatch can do because of my weedy 1.4 :(

  clio 200 F4Rt
work colleagues have taken the piss more about the colour of my inferno cup, calling it a baked bean etc.

but like most, those in the know realise its a cracking car, and respect the 'ring sticker on the boot.

Used to be the same with my saxo VTS, people laugh when you tell them, and i looked a bit sad if i started reeling off.... jenvey throttle bodies, omex ecu, bilstein groupN suspension, roll cage... blah blah!

  Clio 172 mk2
All my friends who drive Subarus take the piss out of my car for being French and a hairdressers car.

Theoretically they can't see any further than the bonnet scoop (laughter)...every other car is s**t in their eyes.

  Golf GTI PP Mk7
my dad has got a C180 Kompressor and its not super fast, the CLK's have big engines but weigh a silly amount.

Who's the muppet that thinks a 230 kompressor is faster than any RS Clio. They have far too much weight and not enough power,

I think some of you/friends are too pub talk orientated. Power/weight calculations are the simplest and dare I say most reliable way of giving straight line acceleration to certain speeds.

The Clio will potentially loose out over 120 as it's like driving a brick. (anyway it's not it's purpose). Slippery cars can have naff acceleration yet a higher top speed. Does it mean its a faster car. Nope, the basic Elise, VX220 will prove the point.

Why oh why is everyone trying to compare a piece of cheese to a piece of chalk.

I feel sorry for the 230Komp. fan club. Any RSClio will not only out do it on acceleration, but the handling is even further apart. Just because it has a lower drag coefficient and a very slightly higher top end means nought.

There are a few people that understand power to weight gives acceleration only up to the point where drag/power stiffles the cars ability to go any faster.

Torque is not accelerative just the ability to pull harder.

It's a shame that people have never been able to differentiate the two. Why do you think a huge amount of diesel torque can never match raw BHP. It comes in wads with no time to exploit.

Boys don't come back with "yes, but if you get a remap". So what, like for like only. After all it's the ONLY way to compare

We've had comments that rate torque as an accelerative force.
, why? If that was so then why do CTR's and other highly stung cars obliterate the diesels? w**k!!! to mags. The in gear accelation is done in top gear, but why would a RS Clio driver be in 5th at 50 to accelerate to 70, or 70 to 100. You should learn your cars and exploit their strenghts. 3rd for the first or 4th for the second question. If you drive any RS for 40mpg then forget it. It's a highly strung car. Why OH OH OH why do you want to drive them if you feel torque is the answer.

Remember they only use highest gearing for these tests. Can no one realise the RS is a high reving beast and all high revers will be the same. The CTR has the same BHP/TON yet less TORQUE/TON. This of course ignorses the fact the tests are done on basic cars without the drag of A/C.

See ya

FMP, why does the "ring" sticker meany anything. Is there something you're not telling us? LOL.

Don't forget that's feeble, anyone can drive it. It could be a 7.5 tonne HGV.
Public road. So you've been round? Difference to peoples attitude to your car? Explain.

Blaze

Neil, who rattled your cage, we are comparing road going cars. Read the post and don't try to be silly. WRC cars DUH!!!!.

So what about F1 for accellaration and G forces.

Get agripof the post not stupid comparisons

Blaze

I had already said don't compare modded cars (surley that means non specialist vehicles that you can and will never be able to compare), let alone your nonesense comment

Get some reality

What planet are you on?.....I take it you are the last word in everything relating to cars/mechanics verbally throwing your weight around.

Enjoyable to see where this thread goes....hotting up already (laughter)

F**k Mercedes, WRC and definately F1....shall we get back on topic

If you like. no I'm not and never have pretendended to be anything other than grown up and realistic. Why you feel it necessary to again question me, when you have been off topic already. This was with a WRC car and daft comments that I had already stated were meaningless.

I think you and so many others have this issue with anything other than acceptance. Worrying about anything that may be contreverstial is not healthy.

I may have issues with numptys, why not?

That's my priveledge.

I'm very good at choosing posts, I like a good debate, and why not? I choose them very care fully as I see too many boys with attitudes without knowledge/ability to understand dynamics.

I'm not a tuner, wouldn't want to be. My Strengths lie in driving.

You may ask if you want to about the way to drive progressively and safley on a road, that's your choice.

Verbally chucking my weight around, why? Do I make a reasoned and clear arguement????

Blaze

DB not an issue for me, I'm just a bu**er that likes to debate.

Take care and sorry to make you feel that way. I'm just on a mission at times.

Take care you

I always thought the 206 was more of hairdressers material than the Clio, Even though I do know 2 dentists and 1 GP that have 172's/Cups/182's ... Me thinks they need to change profession ;)

Ahhhhh, the great diffuser, with a very valid point. Sissors and strighteners at dawn are out the question then.

Good on yer'

mouthyman

someone asked me wot i had and i said clio, then he said thats a sh*t hairdressers car, then when i asked him wot he had he said a nova, (but he said it was amazing cos he could feel the road) lol thats probably cos it has no suspension

  Golf GTI 1.8T
lol mouthyman. I dunno where people get this 'hairdressers car' thing from, I dont know any hairdressers that drive one but a few have saxos ;)! just cos its a small car dont mean hairdressers drive them...

Hello Nerd, I'm Muppet.

I actually was asking a question more than stating a fact, if you read my post you can sort of work that out.

I have one of those wee v6 Clios. Get quite a bit of piss taking mostly from within the Clio community.

I've noticed a fair bit of that come to mention it:dapprove: thing is other enthusiast clubs tend to appreciate all model/mk's, here it's always mines better than yours, yours is s**t because, your is girly, your is old and rusty:rolleyes: etc etc.

Nice one Blaze for your post. Can't stand people who rave about Diesels and Torque all the time. :approve:

Does my bloody head in (ohh but it can accelerate from 30-50 really fast in 6th gear..., that sort of thing)

Every car, whether it is diesel, petrol, NA, or Turbo has its own strengths and weaknesess.

  BMW E46 330i Touring
Don't get much stick really, I find that most of my mates either aren't into cars so all drive whatever they can (Clio, Corsa, Fiesta, etc) or they're big time into cars and know what I mean when I say I own a RenaultSport Clio.

I did have fun embarrassing some big, flashy BMW off the lights this evening though... I agree that in 30/40 zones, it's fun to get up to the limit first, but only the tw*ts who have lost the race scream past you up to 50/60 whilst you tottle along at 30...

  BMW M3
I was at a family gathering the other day, and most the blokes were on the balcony on this building having a smoke looking down on all the cars.

What pi**ed me off is, someone said which car is the fastest and they thought mine was LAST!!!

These were the cars..........

Range Rover 4.4
BMW 525 si estate
BMW 540
Mazda MX5
Mini Cooper
Audi TT
Golf GT TDI
And my 182

I would happily take on anything except maybe the 540 lol

I had a m8 who was taking the piss out of me for spending 11k on a Clio. "You spent how much? It's a Clio!". So I went to his house after picking it up and we went for a drive along the boulevard. The blip at 5200 had him gripping the sides of the seat in fear. I think he was screaming when I went round the roundabout. Now he understands :D

I had my uncle whos a diesel freak out in it. I drove it very calmly so as not give anything away. I was saying to him all the power is after 5200, "oh that's not so good, with diesel the power is where you need it" etc etc, usual diesel blurb. Kaned it off the roundabout on to the dual carriage way.....that shut him up. Bloody diesel drivers! ;)
