dipped lights dont work

my 1.2 clio's (2003 52 plate) dipped headlights arent working.

the auto light sensors turn on the sidelights but not the dipped, and they wont go on with the stalk either, the light on the dash doesnt come on in either case.

mainbeam works fine as do the fog lights.

checked fuses and they seem to be fine.

any ideas?

you have an earth fault, check connections to the bulbs and wire connections.
if that doesnt work run a wire from negative on the battery to the negative side of each bulb, this will prove which bulb has the problem

dad booked it in to the garage for thursday. but ill check that when i get home. realllly dont wanna spend money getting it seen if i dont have to.

2 things spring to mind.
1. It's not uncommon for BOTH dipped beam bulbs to blow at the same time.
2. There is a relay (SLIM BLACK UNIT) on the back of the board under the passenger side dash area that holds the dipped beam relay. This relay can easily be KICKED out of place by a passenger with BIG feet. Look towards the back of the board to see the relays using a good torch.

These would be my first port of call before taking it to the garage.
