Dented Bonnet

After owning my car for 8 months now I have been searching for a bonnet in black gold only to find someone has already purchased it. I managed to track one down and I purchased it and sorted my own courier. I used Paisley Freight as I have used them in the past for a few car parts without any problems. The chap packaged it up with bubble wrap and cardboard on the edge but when it arrived it looked like this. So the reason for my thread is to see wether a dent specialist like this local one could carry out the work but bearing in mind the paint has chipped off...http://www.dent-tek.co.uk/car-dent-ding-repair-durham.html

Or do I have to put it into a bodyshop to get the repair done.

It was all looking so good and the dent was the last bit wrapped in bubble wrap. My other thought was to get a pair of long nosed pliers and trim some pipe to fit over the long nose end then try and bend it back as best I can then touch it up and see how it looks. I suppose a bonnet bra although I am not 100 percent liking them would cover the edge.

Sadly no. It has two large dents that someone has tried to repair near the drivers wiper then the usual place where someone has decided to close the bonnet with their hand. There are loads of stonechips across it as well.

Didn't the seller insure it?

Tbh i would contact the courier. Thats mental damage, looks like it was fully dropped from a height. Thats NOT on

As said contact the courier and go from there.
The seller has done his bit with the packaging but it's been dropped.
Courier will probably fob you off though and they don't get good reports online.
Always insure a delicate item.

How much has this cost you ?

"We do not provide insurance cover for these items except for total loss in transit cover"

So can't get cover for damage even if you wanted to. Their Ts & Cs also seem to cover their arse in terms of negligence. I doubt you'll get anything out of them without going along the small claims route - but even then you're not guaranteed to win and it's not worth it for the cost of the delivery/item.

If you're struggling to find other bonnets in the right colour would it be worth getting the nearest/straightest one you can find and having it re-sprayed?

Yeah I read all the terms and conditions and I thought the same but when I checked on the packaging they must use other courier companies and they have used TNT. It looks like going down the respray route would have been the better options but I didn't want to have to get the wings blended in to match. Thanks for all the advice from everyone.

Its s**t that they can smash your bonnet to bits then not have any blame put on them, I might write a t&c that i can murder someone without a prison sentence, surely they cant just break your items then have no blame put on them just because they wrote it in their t&c's?

Unfair contract terms:
https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/c...contracts/unfair-terms-in-consumer-contracts/

"If you think a contract term is unfair, you should complain to the trader. If the trader doesn't agree, you should get advice before breaking the terms of the contract. You can get advice from the Citizens Advice consumer helpline who can report the trader to Trading Standards and other enforcement organisations.

As a last resort you could take the trader to court and the court will decide whether a term is unfair. If a court decides that a term is unfair you could ignore the term or even cancel your contract and not pay a cancellation fee."

Basically, if the trader won't budge you have to take it to court and argue that the contact terms are unfair.

If anyone has a Black Gold bonnet in excellent condition I will happily take it off your hands. Back to square one. I wish I didn't like having a spotless car like I have some form of OCD then I wouldn't care.

Even if you did bend ot back again, you wouldn't get the ridge in the middle to look right I don't think. Are there not any on ebay being broke local to yourself so you can pick it up?
You could take yours off and give it them as part payment maybe?
Couriers suck, ups have pretty much lost my exhaust. Been waiting nearly 2 weeks on a 24 hour service.
Apparently its in Germany, although it has been sent in this country....

Also, yesterday the ups driver turned up with a piece of paper for me to sign to say I HAVE NOT received a parcel. I told him if he hasn't got an exhaust pipe for me, don't bring me anything to sign.
Basically signing a piece of paper to say they are not responsible I read in the small print. He wasn't happy when I didn't sign it.

Well looks like some good came out of it. I mentioned it to my wife who was not happy with it so she contacted the courier and they said that as a goodwill gesture they will refund the transport costs so at least I can put it towards a new bonnet. Thanks for the advice on the ECP bonnets I do remember seeing that thread a while back. ECP are about 5 miles away so at least I can pick it up from there and take it straight to the bodyshop seems safer than couriers.

Buy a Renault bonnet only.

Pattern parts never fit 100%, new bonnet from Renault is about £130
