Miles better. Unfortunately you can't adjust camber on these even on the front! Only with rock hard adjustable top mounts so this will have to do.

Steering finally straight and feels more even throughout.

Tyres were shot! Feels much better.

Small updates

New brakes to be done along with getting this bloody recirc valve fitted.
Also hopefully picking up a ktec 3" catback (with decat but I'll be selling that) next week so just need it all fitting!

So in summary, all this needs fitting this month!

Brembo high carbon plain discs
Brembo caliper seal refurb kit (will also have a pair of red brembo calipers for sale once done if anyone is interested?)
Motul RBF600 fluid (got some Ate typ 200 for sale now if anyone wants some)
Performance friction z rated pads
Pro perfekt recirc valve
Ktec 3" catback
And fingers crossed I'll get this bloody spoiler fitted when the bodyshop dude is free!!

Also got some rear bumper decals on the way and I'm undecided on the 197 steering wheel, might just get the oem wheel retrimmed

Contemplating Rainsports for the MINI.

I love the Michelin PS4's yet they are £30ish more per corner.

Mate they're absolutely incredible in the wet. Heavy rain they're at their best! Never had anything quite like them for dispersing water

Was driving in the heavy rain last week and my back window was like someone had a hose pipe on it

Dry they're a bit soft like but absolutely brilliant every day tyres.

After some deliberation and a trial run I'm going to get rid of the 197 steering wheel (anyone want one or know someone who wants one let me know) and get the oem wheel retrimmed by Snappy.

Prefer the size of the R26 wheel (360mm vs 380mm 197). Will send it off this week.

Booked in with Mark Black for the 25th

New discs/pads/fluid/caliper refurb (seals)

Fitting the recirc valve and hopefully the KTEC 3" catback I should be getting soon off a lad near me

Gearbox oil and a once over to see if anything else needs replacing - feels tight though. Tempted to get the rear arms polybushed too for the sake of £120

Steering wheel should be back in a couple of weeks too, from Snappy - R26 wheel with alcantara top and bottom, solid leather sides/grips, silver stitching and silver embroidered R26 logo on the bottom with a yellow band on the top at 12 o'clock. Bit like this one

Anyone after a 197 wheel and/or megane brembo calipers give me a shout

Ktec 3" picked up tonight. Like a bloody drain pipe!! Will give it a clean up before fitting a week on sat. Super excite. 2 days in a row ive come home with a 3 inch pipe for my mrs. Both days have been bitter disappointments for her.

Little parts update. Got a pair of these braces off the groups.

Apparently the map sensor and vacuum pipe are prone to snapping and/or coming loose so these braces secure them up a bit.

Renault only sell the parts as complete units or something so its just a preventative thing. Ktaxed up to the max

Exhaust on, brakes on and new fluid. Quick once over and all good, tight as a nun's chuff. Brakes are getting bedded in but a lot of air bubbles were in the fluid coming out so instantly feels better on the pedals
The exhaust is brilliant, best thing ive done to it so far, really bring it to life as they're a bit meh as standard.
Recirc valve doesn't seem to sound any different though! Guess it needs mapping for more boost!

Booked in for april for the sports cat and rear poly bushes

Great drive back now it has some sort of voice

Open cone worked a treat! Can hear the flutter now - it's not mega loud either on std boost. Sorted for 30 quid and 20 mins of me swearing with my halfords socket set as it went dark

Productive weekend. Up at 8 to get to the bodyshop in Oldham for the spoiler (finally) getting fitted and to respray the top of the bootlid as I made a right hash of taking the original lip spoiler off. Finishes off the rear end nicely with the OEM decals and slash cut exhaust that I've had put on.

Went to get my R26 steering wheel from Snappy yesterday too - not a fan of the Clip 197/200 one, it's far too big and makes the steering feel light (which I hate) - so OEM R26 steering wheel with alcantara top and bottom with 'R26' embroidered logo, solid leather sides/grips and silver stitching.

IMG_4661.JPG

Also chucked in some LED rear number plate light clusters (as the LED bulbs in the original holders were constantly coming loose).
IMG_4644.JPG

New OSRAM white 6k side light bulbs (again cos Ebay ones are s**t).
IMG_4647.JPG

Also got a new dashcam (nextbase 312GW) as my ebay one (guess what! was s**t! ha) died and the next base comes with a magnetic mounting clip that you can hard wire (come with a kit) into the fuse box and hide all the wires - so it's just plug in/remove and the quality/reliability is good too.

That looks great with the spoiler. Do they all have the little cut out? Never noticed it but then again I've never been looking for it.

Yeah and you know what, it's had me baffled for ages as to why it has the cut out............until we fitted it. It's there so that when you open the boot, the aerial slots into that recess with the boot up! So although it's a weird design, it works.

Great improvement
Mate I think you need to give a meg another try (if you're still umming and ahhing) - since I put that exhaust on it's transformed it. I get what you're saying now about being a bit 'meh' about them, I was actually getting a bit like that, but now it's got a voice/character/engine feedback (I even like the chavvy intake/recirc valve) and the steering is bang on and its all tightened up like the honda. Dare I say it I might even prefer it to the Honda - although I still prefer the K20

Little bit of details to add some colour and match the wheel band

Also a little something to match the yellow bits in my engine bay as the oem intake looks naff

Also ordered a new metal dipstick cos the plastic one feels well dodgy, plus the handle is yellow :) 23 b*****d quid tho!!

After all the umming and ahhing over who to use to map this little tinker, I've decided to go with EFi. Unicorn are s**t hot and conveniently exactly 1 mile from my doorstep, but as Chris @ EFI (is he on here? 'Scoff'?) seems to be a big Renault nut, and had a deal on for the MSOC which means he's the same price.
So I'm now booked in there for the map, following having my sports cat (and maybe TTV SMF) fitted. Roll on Easter weekend :)

Right. Wedding and honeymoon boxed off, straight back into the car ha.

Sports cat arrived while I was away. Thats getting fitted along with rear poly bushes on saturday at Mark Black's.
Then its back ti efi for the map on 15th.
Just got back from there now for a pre/standard run as a before vs after. 236.1 bhp and 240.0 lb/ft on standard map so all good and looks healthy for the 15th.
Finally met Carl aka @bloke too
Back to work tomorrow to pay for this all. Lolz

Sun out so had to take advantage. New driver's headlight in cos old one was getting cloudy, re lamin-x'd the fogs (took them off bumper to do), cleaned up and sprayed the intercooler so its visible and silver again, replaced all the worn bumper plastic screw fixing things and added a marmite tow strap as well as some new sidelight bulbs and rear headlight caps that went missing

Sod it. Bought some siemens 630cc injectors to make sure my map is as safe as poss and allow me to tweak a bigger turbo in later, rather than have it all mapped again from scratch :)

These Turned up in the nick of time today, was getting worried!

Apparently my mpg won't just be affected, it'll be hammered! But better than a blown engine so safety first for the remap.

As long as its as reliable........ Think I've replaced everything now tho so should be!

Will get a 250 turbo later down the line, this sets it up nicely for that without the need for a remap pretty much from scratch

Long day yesterday! Got there an hour early too. Got there at 3, left at half 8!
Injectors in and mapping done. Also typically the eml came on for emissions even with the sports cat (as I pulled in!) - so thats been mapped out as has the error code that the smf will bring up when fitted.
Chris is a wiz!
275.7 bhp and 301.5 lb/ft, but more importantly how it drives is awesome. Nice and smooth but a real surge of power now after 2/2.5k and pulls all the way to the end. First time I've actually needed to Turn the traction control off! Mpg seems to be ok on way home, time will tell.
Only bummer is a couple of times in 5th on motorway the clutch started slipping very slightly. At first I wasn't fussed as my smf Turned up today, but I've found out this smf is the standard r26/225 version and not the r26.r one (so I cant run an uprated r26.r clutch unless I get a paddle made up) so looks like I'm gonna have to sell and get an r one in the end.
Car drives brilliantly other than that though, Chris has made it a very capable car now! Top work.
