Anyone know a place I can get the them made?

Contacted my local engineers , they have quoted me 640£ but it doesn't included VAT or labour for them
in other words it's looking over a 1k to have them done.

Does that look right?

That's who I've asked Fred :D
they seem abit reluctant to make me a set. Even after I've been in and given them a spare rod to measure

Already got my Mahle pistons coming from France

my mate works for Mahle motorsport! Arrow precision in Hinkley could do them, but you'd be £1500 a set easily, you not compared them to F4R out of interest?

Good people over at Mahle, sorted me a set of k9k pistons for around £500 delivered from France. Actually was less hassle to get pistons from them than over here

Nope haven't compared them to an F4r rod, I wouldn't think they would be the same size ?

134mm C-C , 26mm small end, 47.6 big end

Very different to F4R ones then, far shorter and totally different end sizes.

you will struggle to get them cheap unless you buy from china and want 100+ of them

I don't mind paying over 1k , it was just fardon didn't really want to do them as diesels isn't their thing ...

i had looked at turbo 5's rods but they are way to small

Big End Diameter:51.593
G/Pin Diameter:21.000

It's flows enough for 120mg/stroke , should be plenty in the little 1.5

plus on the upgrade side, that pump can be modified being two stage not a crappy single stage pump that I have now

200hp will be my aim, wether the engine can do that will be another question.

Someone did have a 180hp one but it threw a few rods

Anyone know another make of car that has the same size rods?

ive looked at vw's, found a rod that's 47.6 big and 133 c-c but the small end is 22 :(

  182/RS2/ Turbo/Mk1
is there enough material around the small end to bore the hole out to the size you need?

If he hadnt already rushed in and bought pistons he could have just bought pistons with the pin size of the VW.

Width needs to be correct too of course though not just diameter!

Those mahle pistons won't go to waste even if I don't use them, I'll put them In the GFs DCI engine seems as that due a set of rings anyway

only problem I've got trying to use those vw pistons that match the rods spec that I posted above is they're 1.4s.

Pistons going to be to small for the bore of the DCI block

I meant get some custom pistons done to match the rods if you cant get custom rods done to match the pistons.

CP or similar would do it im sure.

I'll have a gander !

will be fun to have a set made I would think, seems as the pistons have the big swirl pot for better burning.

couldnt I get my mahle's customized to run a smaller small end, brass bush pushed in ?

Yes potentially modifying your mahles might be a good way to go.

Just a thought, I've been asked if the rods have slots for the bearing.

i know the DCI 65/80 don't have toothed big end bearings....

need to find out if the mk3 platform DCI lumps run toothed bearings and the same size big end.

I would be surprised if they do, renault seem to favour no tags, from what Ive seen on the newer petrol stuff anyway, last of the sporty petrol renaults Ive seen with tags is the williams.

Easy enough to add though.

only thing I would have trouble with is sourcing a set of shells with tags.

tbh I haven't seen many dci's spin shells unless badly serviced
