Correct top mounts for 182 with cup setup

  182 Trophy
I've just purchased a Renault Sport clio the dealer fitted new topmounts to the front ( the car had both shocks replaced) I've just had the cambelt aux and water pumb changed by another garage and the garage has said the top mounts are the wrong ones. The first garage has fitted rather flat looking discs the new garage says they should look more like top hats who's right? I don't really know what they are talking about!! The new garage has shown me that the coils stick at the top of the suspension and this explains why my steering feels very heavy and tend to tram-line

car is an 05 182 with cup package.

Take some pictures and post them or take it to a specialist off here who will know straight away what's happening!!

From inside the engine bay you will see a metal disc thing each side. Underneath that on the inner side of the turret is the big rubber bit along with bearing and nut.

If you didn't have the rubber part you would have crashed by now. I can't understand how some call themselves mechanics as they are as thick as Joey essex

yes it's the metal disc that seems to be the issue the ones fitted are almost flat the current garage has shown me a pair that are more top hat shapped.

  Many.
I'd suggest getting a pic as mentioned, they changed the design a few years ago, so could just have the new type.

Weird. Something has been done wrong, pictures would help but tbh i would just get it somewhere and looked at.

well bit the bullet and got them changed £87.00 can't believe how much better it feels. Garage said it was a cheap and rather dangerous way to lower the suspension by squashing the front coils down. Have to say suprised AA didn't pic it up but heyho. The steering feels so much better and the tram-linning has all but gone.

Needs a gap, its not right having that sat on the bodywork. That top bit spins when you turn the steering, so it'll be making the steering heavier etc etc
