clio williams advice?

am new to forum so hello,

was jsut wanting to get some information about the williams from the ppl in the know, as am caonsidering getting one. What are the like to drive, performance reliability etc.

ps i currently own a escort rs turbo and im hopeing that the willimas cant be as unreliable as this.

cheers chris

Reliability depends if you get a good one and how its treated mine been very relaible its just other things I've done to it which can make it annoying.
best have a look at http://www.williamsclio.co.uk/ there a load of owners on the forum.
Superb cars though I love mine I prefere the standard suspension for road use though a it realy is superb. Speed wise there about 172 quick it can depend though as many have some modifications.
Biggest probalem is rust IMO.

  Massey6465 & saxo1.1
I had a S2 RS a few years ago & now have a Williams2. Like you My RS suffered from problems,it was allways blowing pipes off or having starting problems......but I still loved it ;)
Williams has tended to cost me more when it has gone wrong though(Gearbox went & then Cambelt snapped) but gnerally is more reliable that the RS.
You will be amazed at the handling ability of the Clio if you can get a drive in one,it really would run rings round the Escort. Its so easy to drive hard round the corners. As for the performance,I have no complaints-no Lag like the turbo,it just picks up from low revs & seems to get to the 6500rpm limit quickly, without ever Fadeing. My RS was chipped and had a piper cam(Approx 180bhp)so would be quicker thatn the Clio on the move(down the straights)
But I cant see you being dissapointed if you went for one.

Re: clio williams advice/tunning?

thanks for the advice guys, was a great help:D

also wot sort of sensible mods are avlabile for the williams and wot sort or increases in power do they give.

cheers chris

There not huge gains unlike turbo cars.
AWT cams and headwork are good but its expensive. Cams head work exhaust and a remap and you'r about 180hp.

Yay! Another RS owner!

I had a modified S2 and yes, it was a complete nightmare... lol Think it sat in the garage for 2 years before I decided to get a more reliable car that I could actually use and not spend all my money on! (So I bought a 16v? I must have been crazy... LoL And now it's drained all my savings again lol :D)

But, the 16v and the williams are great cars - handle far better than RSTs and you can use more of the power more of the time. I do miss that turbo lag followed by screaming up the road and scaring the flat cap off the old git at the front of the queue ;) but apart from that the valver's better in almost every respect. (Bar the seats - recaros in the RS are much better IMO)

Get and have a drive in a good one - that's the only way you can experience how they urge you to drive harder, faster, a bit quicker round that corner :D
