Clio RXE 1.6L can't do 70mph

Hi Guys,

So I've had my Clio 1999 RXE 1.6L auto for few months and I am sure there is an issue with it.

From a cold start I can only do 56mph - 58mph before the it hits 3000rpm at which it sounds like 7000rpm once the engine is warm I can do 60mph at 2300rpm.

My issue is that when driving at 70pmh it seems like the engine is reving at 7000rmp or like it's trying to change a gear up but can't.


Any idea what could be causing this?

have a pressure test done on it see if your loosing pressure that may reduce combustion it may be chucking fuel in but not able to combust it due to a leak? Take it to get checked
