A couple of them are a bit soft for my liking - but I'm still learning panning shots and quite happy considering they were taken hand-held and it was REALLY cold lol

Soft. I was about to say they were nice and sharp lol!! Only a few of them are a tad soft on the edges, some of them are spot on!

Good work Phil :)

  Oil Burner
Lovely shots, I particularly like the Williamson shot!

They look quite slow shutter speeds 1/100 or lower? So you can expect even a sharp shot to have soft areas. And if you're not used to panning this is a pretty slow shutter speed to be achieving shots with, so looks like you're getting on fine ;)

Yeah the top image was 1/40th! LOL

Rest were 1/80th ish

All taken with a 70-200mm f4L on my 7D
I need to practice more with my monopod as I think that would help - but I never get on with it very well for some reason

Ace!

Loved the SG one. He had a bump then rolled to a stop infront of me in the first race, safe to say I now want my SG 200 back lol.

Nicely done Phil

I am going to have to put my lack of skillz on the line and give motorsport togging a go. I fully appreciate its not easy, technically skillfull but I rarely see a difference between this years motorsports pics and last years. But as I said perhaps I should give it a go!!!

I've been trying my hardest to get into it properly for years. Cadwell isn't far from me so I might start spending some weekends up there practicing

Trouble is taking photos of track cars and driving a track car are conflicting hobbies :(
Every time I'm out on track I wish I could have taken photos of myself - and everytime I'm taking photos I wish I was driving lol
