Clio II Lock problem

  Clio
Hi Guys,

Wifey's Clio has developed a problem with the drivers side lock. It locks OK but won't unlock - the key just turns (Stiffly).

Anyone experienced this problem before, if so, what was it?

I'd like to get the bits together to fix it before taking the door apart, if possible. I don't want to buy a lock barrel set of it's a problem with something else, IYSWIM?

(Non central locking)

a piece of the plastic mech might have snapped. if you take the door card off you'll see how it works. Can easily be dismantled.

The locks go wrong inside ,oiling can some times work or can make them worse , if not second hand or new door lock is required .

Thanks all; I'll try some oil and if that fixes it get a new barrel on order.

Quick question regarding the door card removal; how do you remove the windy handle for the window? Is it just a pull-off one? Reason for asking is that we had a Skoda a while ago and I pulled the handle only to find it had some sort of fancy sprung-plastic-locking-system which shattered into a trillion pieces (OK, two pieces) and should have been released by pushing a special tool in a concealed slot (Big screwdriver)..

..also, how does the door card come off? I have removed the torx screws from both the bottom edge of the panel and the door opener handle but it refuses to budge. I don't want to go snapping it!

Watch that, noteable things; the bottom of my door was lined with black silicon/glue so if you are certain you've removed the screws just tease the bottom away with a screw driver or butter knife. The way the door holds is kinda weird, there's a ledge at the top and the door card drops into it so you cant pull it away, you pull the bottom away and then pull the door card up. atleast thats the only way mine came off.

my door on my 182, or atleast how it seemed was the locking mechanism is a part itself, it has an electric cable going into it. so if you cant fix it by fiddling, take it out fiddle again if not look for someone to recondition it or get a new one, if you can without affecting key..GL!
