Clio 182 won't start, help!

Hi guys went out to my 182 this morning and it wouldn't start , had a few attempts then pinched the wife's car for work instead. I've searched the forums and tried a few things but had no joy so thought I'd start a new thread and describe as best I can the symptoms hopping that someone can help me out:


1: The car turns over and tries to start for a few seconds then cuts out.
2: The battery is new this year, and the car had only been stood since Thursday.
3: The car is not behaving like the battery is flat, ie alarm happily arms/disarms and ancillaries come on.
4: I have tried both keys (each with new batteries) and neither will start the car, but both turn the car over.
5: I have tried two different immobiliser reset tricks listed on here, none have worked.


lots of threads suggest various different things about immobilisers and the red light between stop and serve, on my car the light is as follows:


1: After I disarm the alarm the light flashes slowly and does so when the key is in the ignition at either position "0" or "1".
2: if I turn the key to position two then the the red light stays on solidly, as does the stop and serve lights, the remain on as I crank it.


As I've attempted to start it now numerous times I have flattened the battery off so to try one last thing I tried jumping it off using the wife's car and still no joy!


I'm open to suggestions here! Don't have a good independent Reno specialist anyway near me that I know of and the local dealers are rubbish... Help!!

mine did this-under bonnet fuse box-theres a red wire with a daft fuse in that looks out of place

im pretty condifent that was the cause of my odd uch prob that a auto spark failed to spot

might be a coincidence but i bought it with that problem and 18 month later it fires everytime if but for some reason i meed to click key as i turn

if i dont it flashes (not recognised key) and if that fuse is in it constantly stays on solid red i.e recognised key but uch not signaling fuel pump

the 3 second cut out is what i get with that fuse inits a uch problem-its the alarm fuse you,ll notice the light next to gear stick no longer works with it out

i believe its shorting and the uch going into spaz mode

I'll check that in the morning, along with the relays. My alarm light near the gear stick is still flashing when armed though

On top of your gearbox is a tdc ( top death center) sensor that might be the problem. Try unplug/ plug back. Try to start affer it.
If its ghe sensor replace it and also the plug. Becareful if u solder a new plug on it dont look at the color of the cables but let them get om same point of the plug.

I think the fact that the immobiliser light stays lit rules out the TDC sensor fix (from what ive read) but I'm gonna try it anyway in the morning.

tdc sensor failure will let it turn and turn its the uch (imobiliser body control module)

its not un arming thats the problem,id take the fuse out now and leave it over night and re try
