Clio 172 Cup 1st Gear!

  Clio 172 Cup
Well i have just bought a Clio 172 Cup.

In 1st gear at around 5000 Rpm+ i get an intermittent rattle that sort of cuts in an out ?

Took it to my mates garage and had a good look at the car an could see anything wrong of loose?

After selling my GSXR1000 to get this car ai was not really dissaponted until now!

Any help would be really appreciated.

Thanks

James

whole host of possibilities; from my limited experience: dephaser, gearbox mount, loose silencer baffle

does it only do it in first gear?

Thanks for the reply.

It will sometimes do it in 2nd but not much.

I have had the car on a ramp and had a good look underneath and cant anything wrong?

Really shouldn't be canning it in 1st gear unless you like gearboxs and driveshafts.

mines never seen about 4k in 1st since the old one broke!

it's always difficult to tell from written descriptions so your best bet might be in taking it to a local specialist or may be going along to a local meet/finding someone who knows their way around the car locally so that they can have a listen.

a tinny rattle from one of the silencer boxes above 4,000rpm is a common annoyance and so is a 'twittering' noise from a loose gearbox mount (hidden under the battery).

the dephaser noise can apparently also come in at idle but in my case has been a whistling noise above 5,000ish rpms.

Well after watching a few videos i think the noise i am hearing is normal and i am just being paranoid.

If you have a look at this video and listen to the car between 2.15-3.00 it is the same noise i get in mine but allot moor of it, maybe because it is tuned?

.......Or maybe his car has problems?
