a vts does murder a 1.6 too. as for toms experience in his 1.4 i find it unliekly he was a good driver cause vts r frickin fast and are more valver territory.

Bollox to it. Im saving for a 172/182 now. Dunno how long it will take but I wont be satisfied until I get one will I ! By that time I will have at leat 2/3 years no claims so the insurance should be manageable.

Best idea if to get a 172 for all the uprated bits you get personally.

The difference might not be as much as you think.

I looked and for me to swop to an equal ages 172 etc its about £2~2.5k which is excellent value in my view.

Insurance might be a lot but you have to put it into context to what you pay at the moment the jump might not be that much.
