Knowing just how much the panels cost on a V6, it's likely the damage was fairly minor, but the cost of repair would have been massive, which could have been why the insurance company wrote it off.
Been discussed in various threads previously ... including a picture of the damage. From the look of it, there's no reason to assume it's a dog. Fairly typical tap on the front, but being a V6 the costs quickly mount up .
